We’re still coming down from the excitement! Congratulations to Terry Penner of Team MB for winning Manitoba’s first ever fireworks competition! On September 5&6, 2026, beneath the open prairie sky just south of Morden, Team AB & Team MB went head-to-head, each bringing an original pyro-musical performance to the sky in a battle for the historic title of the inaugural Shadow Valley Illuminated champion. In an effort to impress the judging panel and audience, each designer poured their creativity, passion and love of pyrotechnics into carefully choreographed performances to light up the nights in spectacular fashion.
🏆Team MB’s show was designed by Winkler’s own Terry Penner. The theme of Terry’s show was “Invited”; “The theme is an invitation to come to know Christ. The music and show tell the wonderful story of what Christ has done for me and everyone else! The dramatic scenes, the calm scenes and also the very emotional scenes do a great job of telling that story.” Terry has been shooting with Archangel for 12 years and is a talented supervisor. Not only did he design Sunday’s show, but he organized the entire event, and snapped some incredible photographs during the two nights!
Terry brought the event together over the past several months through his passion for his community, faith, and love of delivering impressive firework shows to audiences. A team of talented and energetic technicians from worked through challenging weather in the days and hours leading up to both shows.
To the volunteers, partners, performers, security team, sponsors, Archangel technicians and everyone who worked behind the scenes - thank you. This event simply would not have happened without you.
And to the thousands of people who came out and believed us when we said, “These are fireworks shows you’re not going to want to miss” - thank you for taking a chance on a brand-new event.
You showed up. You cheered. You looked up. And together, we made history. 2026, Manitoba’s first fireworks competition.
