We are so pleased to introduce Andy Elliot into our artist spotlight!
He uses piano key ebony to crown his signature turned treasure boxes, bridging the gap between musical history and fine woodworking.
Working with a variety of highly sought after (and NS native) wood such as spalted birch, cherry and luminous curly maple, he turns nature’s artwork into his very own.
His curly maple pendant necklaces catch everybody’s eye and make beautiful NS souvenirs or gifts.

“Andy is a former high school teacher and graduate of Acadia University with a degree in Biology. Having spent considerable time in the woods, he has developed an understanding and appreciation for nature and the treasures that lie beneath the bark of a tree. His love of woodworking started during childhood in his grandfather’s shop where the studio now stands in Weymouth. From the humble birdhouses of yesterday to the turnings of today, Andy continues to make shavings at the edge of Sissaboo River. “

With heavy hearts, we share the sudden passing of John Stuart on Saturday, June 27.

John lived with incredible energy, optimism, and constant momentum. Throughout his life, he created places that brought people together, celebrated community, and helped shape Nova Scotia’s agricultural, tourism, wine, and food culture.

We are deeply grateful for the outpouring of love and support from neighbours, friends, customers, and the many communities John belonged to near and far.
In John’s honour, Black Watch Farms and Only Nova Scotia will continue to operate and carry forward the spirit he brought to them every day. Join us today to celebrate Canada, take part in our colouring contest, cool off at Devour Studios, enjoy some farm-fresh produce, hug a loved one, and live life to the fullest. “It’s a beautiful day in Nova Scotia!”

A full obituary and details will be shared when available.
With love and gratitude,

The Stuart Family
