Snagged this hutch top for free — aka my favorite price. It looked like it had seen better decades, but I saw curio cabinet potential (and maybe a few spiders). 🕷️✨

A little sanding, a lot of paint, and only three minor meltdowns later… she’s a whole new woman. Swipe for the glow-up!

Moral of the story: never underestimate what a freebie + stubbornness can do.

Life has a way of shifting priorities, and sometimes, you have to step back to make room for what matters most. I once ran crafted as an earring business, creating and curating beautiful jewelry, but when I became a foster parent, time became a rare commodity. I had to pause my business to focus on this new chapter of my life.

But as time passed and I regained space in my schedule, I felt a deep pull to give back and empower the next generation of makers. That led me to run a workshop at a local inpatient detox center for women — teaching them how to create their own jewelry and share in the process of making something beautiful from scratch. I donated all my supplies and clay to the organization and it has been a wonderful reward to see the girls creating their own beautiful earrings and excelling in entrepreneurship.

My love for creating with thrifted items runs deep, and it extends beyond jewelry. I’ve always been drawn to curating pieces for my home that tell a story — not just following fleeting trends. At the end of the day, it’s about surrounding yourself with items you truly love and cherish.

We’re all makers in our own way. Whether it’s creating something from the heart or crafting a space that feels like home, it’s the love we pour into it that makes it special. 💫

This hutch top was purchased in my previous home in Ontario: with the addition of Amazon legs it becomes a beautiful statement piece for all my curated thrift/antique store objects.
