Intergenerational love and resilience 🤎

I made this for my daughter—Naia Caroline, who is named after her late great-grandmother, Caroline Pellissey. She was our matriarch—A loving grandmother, master hide tanner, bead artist, seamstress whose hands created countless pairs of moccasins, mukluks, and other treasures for our family.

I was blessed to grow up watching her bead, sew and tan hides. Creating wearable Dene art is one way I honour my grandmothers legacy, our ancestors and celebrate our culture. I hope Naia will also one day carry these teachings forward.
