💧 Water Main & Hydrant Flushing Underway

The City of Yorkton’s annual water main and hydrant flushing program is underway to help clean and maintain our water distribution system.

📅 September 8 – October 3, 2026

📍 Flushing will take place north of Broadway Street this year. The south portion of the city is planned for 2027.

Crews will move through different areas of the city as work progresses. Flushing locations and timing may change due to weather, emergency repairs or other operational requirements.

🕐 Work hours:

Monday–Friday: 7:00 a.m.–7:00 p.m.
Saturday: 7:00 a.m.–4:00 p.m.

💦 What might I notice?

While crews are flushing in your area, you may temporarily notice discoloured or cloudy water or changes in water pressure.

If your water is discoloured, run your cold water tap until the water runs clear. You may also wish to avoid doing laundry while flushing is taking place in your area.

I made this cartoon for City the Kitty to help raise awareness about declawing. ❤️🐾

It’s hard to believe declawing still happens. Thankfully, many countries and veterinary practices have ended this painful and unnecessary amputation—but far too many still offer it.

My husband’s beloved cat, Dorian, was declawed, and she suffered from the effects throughout her life.

If you’ve ever watched a cat stretch out fully, dig those front claws in and reach with their whole body, you understand: claws aren’t an accessory. They’re part of how cats stretch, climb, balance, play, scratch—and simply be cats.
