Dear Daddy,
“I’ve always known that the presence I carry.--The way I take us space — the way I walk into a room and command it — that came from you And my poise… my grace came from my momma but the way I hold myself together — that came from the both of yall.

But when it came to you daddy you went further to teach me ritual, routine, strategy and how to hone my Craft and Creativity. As your first and only daughter, you were given the task to raise up a princess who would be able to hold her own as A Queen.
Mission: Complete daddy. You taught me how to be a lady.Through Your own fire and passion you forged a sharp blade; A falling for nothing and standing firm in what I believe in kind of Woman who made you proud to be a Father. Even in times when we disagreed and didn't see eye to eye I knew we were still in fact heart to heart. You taught me that Your love and Protection was the Standard and that if any man wanted to be apart of my life they had to meet or beat those Set Standards. What a Tall Task. What a way to show your child the value in herself before she knew how priceless that was.
The lesson in being a leader and not a follower runs deep in my blood just like our Weekend driving sessions that we'd have before you dropped me back home to my momma does. But the older I got the more I realized that your weren't just teaching me how to drive a car. You were teaching me how to navigate through life and how to be aware. . You gave me confidence to stir like a big girl. As I held my hands at 10 and 2 while sitting on your lap I'd glance down at times and saw that yours at 4 and 8 still guiding me. That was all I needed to know to push the gas pedal a little further down.
At times when we were out and about or at a show you'd see someone you knew ( And you knew everybody), you would stop a Talk for what felt like hours. It's like you instantly went into network mode.Talking. Connecting. Laughing. Building relationships right there on the spot.
All the while I'm like "daddy I'm hungry can we go?"
I didn’t understand it then.
But the older I got, the more I realized… you wasn’t just talking. Daddy was teaching me and showing me that relationships matter

6 years ago today I lost so much confidence in myself when I lost you. I lost my vision and part of my purpose as well...I lost sleep, weight and the drive to keep going without you. I completely changed over night and it was a very dark place to be in and I was fine being there alone but I wasn't ok at all. I struggled and still struggled with daily depression knowing that you could not help and guide me in the ways you used to.
Heartbroken is a understatement.💔
I'm the last born, at just 32 at the time I was still connected to your umbilical cord getting the nourishment I needed. When ppl turned their backs, betrayed me, and tired to run my name thru the dirt I looked over my shoulder at still saw you standing 10 toes down. You showed me how to operate as a Woman of GOD and VALUE. You fixed my crown and tied it so tight that even if my head went down for a sec it would not fall off.
💯 Everything that I did and do was to show you that you did right by me and even in your flaws you were authentic. I can just remember our last years together and how I intentionally poured into you and showed you how much I love and adore you. Just seeing you smile when I surprised you with gifts or trips is what made my day. Your 64th B'Earthday I ust knew I had to go all out. CUSTOM SUIT, MAKE OVER, HAIR DONE, EXPENSIVE DINNER ECT.. I JUST WANTED YOU TO REMIND YOU THAT YOU ARE A QUEEN!. 👑👸🏾
Your support and love was really all I ever needed and you never lacked neither even if I was a brat at times. You did what MOTHERS DO. You never Let my hand go mommy and I'm so thankful thay you prayed for me, stayed with me, cheered for me and sacrificed for me. GOD blessed our Family with your presence.He choose the right WOMAN for the job. Even in your absence you're still very much so present. I keep your legacy alive and thriving.
