The interdisciplinary art project *VERNISAGE*, initiated by Gyger, Ben Mühlethaler, and Maurice Könz, brings together music and visual art. In collaboration with Bern-based musicians Dan Mattia Müri, Estelle Plüss, Lorenz Häberli, Luc Oggier, Soukeyna Mboup, Stefanie Peter, and Yannis Maviaki, the album *VERNISAGE* was created.

At the beginning of the project, Gyger painted seven oil portraits that sparked new artistic approaches. In response, he cut the paintings apart and had them sewn back together, resulting in a large-scale work (*Diversity*, 280 × 160 cm). The piece explores themes of identity, diversity, and community.

For Jaron, the work also emerged from a reflection on the conditions through which art gains visibility and legitimacy today. While figurative painting is often regarded as traditional or conventional, the act of cutting apart and reconstructing the paintings shifted their reception into a different contemporary framework. This transformation raises questions about the values that shape current artistic discourse: Why can an image remain largely unnoticed until it is disrupted? At what point does destruction become more compelling than precision, commitment, or narrative? By turning completed paintings into fragments and reassembling them into a collective body, *Diversity* reflects on a cultural moment in which rupture often attracts greater attention than continuity, inviting viewers to reconsider the criteria by which meaning and relevance are assigned.
