These handmade drum dampeners started with something very simple: kitchen towels on snare drums.

After seeing drummers use cloths for quick and musical dampening, I started experimenting and developed my own reusable fabric dampeners in different sizes.

From subtle overtone control to super dry and focused sounds:

Small dampener = light control
Donut dampener = focused attack, reduced ring
Full cloth dampener = short, dry and controlled

Handmade in Switzerland and available in multiple sizes and colors.

Two rewraps, two completely different eras, two very different vibes.

🥁 Project 1: A beautiful 1960s Sonor kit, brought back to life with a fresh gold sparkle wrap. The bass drum hoops were fully restored and refinished to match the new look. Vintage character, but ready for many more years of playing.

🥁 Project 2: A 1970s Ludwig, rewrapped in my all-time favourite finish: Sky Blue Pearl. Funny enough, I once owned a newer Ludwig kit in exactly this finish, so this one felt really good to work on.

A good rewrap is never just cosmetic. It’s about preserving instruments that deserve another chapter while respecting what made them special in the first place.

If you’ve got an old drum set that deserves a second life, I’m always happy to talk restoration, rewraps, repairs, or full rebuilds.

A tea towel on a snare isn’t exactly a new idea. But it works for a reason.

I started making these dampeners because I loved that dry, controlled sound and wanted something that feels a bit more intentional and adjustable than whatever happened to be lying around the rehearsal room.

Ivo from the band M.O.T.H.E.R got in touch because he wanted to shorten his Pearl bass drum from 18" depth to 14".

The goal:

Less boom boom, more thwack thwack
More focus and punch
Less stage and transport space

The job included cutting the shell, re-drilling the lug holes and recreating the bearing edge to match the original profile.

Turnaround was just a few days and this kind of modification doesn’t have to cost a fortune.

I actually do this mod quite often. A lot of deeper kick drums benefit from losing a few inches, especially if you want a tighter, more controlled sound.
