Some jewels are beautiful, and some simply steal your heart. This one did both. 💚✨
This French Art Deco ring from the 1920s is centered by an old mine cut diamond of just over 2 carats. 💚🤍
I especially love that the diamond itself tells an even older story. Old mine cuts predate the Art Deco period, and by the 1920s the Old European Cut was already well established. Beautiful older diamonds, however, were treasured and often found their way into new, fashionable settings and I love the thought of this old stone becoming the heart of such a glamorous Art Deco design.
Around it, approximately 0.35 carats of vivid calibré-cut emeralds create that wonderful geometric look so typical of the era. A delicate line of yellow gold makes the green glow even more, while the surrounding old european cut diamonds, set in platinum, add just the right amount of sparkle.
The color combination is probably what made me fall for it first. Rich emerald green, bright diamonds, cool platinum and that tiny touch of warm gold. Bold, elegant and somehow incredibly romantic.
But the most beautiful part of its story is now ours. My husband gave me this ring for our 10th wedding anniversary. A jewel with almost a century of history, chosen to celebrate ten years of our own. I couldn’t love it more. 💚
