pink maharani shawls are one of the most exquisite and finely handmade product. The legacy of our fine shawls date back as early as the 18th century. These soft beauties have adorned the royals, especially the maharanis (Indian queens) and elites for decades. Our products are made with 100% natural fibers, 6 times thinner than a human hair strand, that are hand combed from the under-belly of the Changthama. These rare goats can only be reared in the Ladakh region at the height of 4,000m. Due to the harsh cold temperatures and the vegetation in this region the goats grow a very fine soft hair that protect them during the winter season. However in spring these warm fibers are naturally shed which are carefully gathered, cleaned and then go through an 18-step process of spinning, weaving, dyeing and embroidery. Due to the very delicate nature of the fiber, it is necessary that all products are hand-spun and hand woven. All our products are sourced directly from Kashmir, the land where the art of pashmina spinning, weaving and making has been born and bred for centuries. Thus we go back to the source empowering the local Kashmiri artisans to continue pursuing this intricate art form taking them days, months and even years to complete just one piece.
