At 40, Margaret quits her sales job in Chicago to follow her husband’s hotel career to Paris. ✈️
Everyone tells her she’s living the dream, but without a professional identity, she is adrift. Desperate to feel valued, she throws herself into new roles: perfect spouse, hostess, tour guide, and expatriate. ✨🙋🏼‍♀️
When the void inside threatens to engulf her, she unleashes the brave(ish) woman inside and embarks on a transformative journey 💜

Come share with us the first or last time a book made you feel seen 🏳️‍🌈🏳️‍⚧️

20 years after its last edition, the Romande Pride is back in Lausanne 🪭
To celebrate, we’re taking part in .bookclub ’s Fières Lectures program alongside fellow independent bookshops.

With the political necessity of representation at the forefront of many public debates, we wanted to scale things down a bit by hosting a Q***r Open Mic Night here at the bookshop. 🎤 Grab the book that spoke to you most and make us see the world through your eyes. Q***r readers matter 🩷❤️🧡💛💚🩵💜

We are delighted to announce that Matthew will be in conversation with author Bruno Giussani at the bookshop 📖

They will be discussing Bruno’s latest book, in which he decrypts the nature of the relationship that is developing between us and AI, and the economic and power structures in which they exist. 🌍

The book also offers guidance on resisting this technological takeover, so that we can become competent users of AI without being used by it. 🤖

Places will be limited 📝 You’ll find the link to sign up in our bio.

If a picture is worth a thousand words, and our camera’s frame rate is 30fps, and the recap video lasts 38 seconds (…and if you’re still with us), can you calculate the number of words we’ve spared you to simply say THANK YOU (skip the maths, go read a book) 🎈🎈🎈

This Saturday 9th May, join us on an eye-opening walk in the vineyards 🍇

The plan is to meet behind Cully station at 13.30. We will start by exploring the streets of Riex. We aim to arrive in Rivaz at 16.00 having taken in the view over Cully, the old mill on the stream, the capites, the large vineyard estates above the villages, and the monastic estates around Dézaley. We will be guided by Denyse Raymond, an expert on the region and one of the book’s authors.

Looking back on ‘s gig from earlier this month still puts a smile on our faces 💛 With their effortlessly cool vibe and transporting music, we traveled through literary landscapes, one book-inspired track at a time. What a delight 🎶🙏

While time does pass more quickly when you’re having fun, it doesn’t seem possible that it's already a year since we moved to Rue du Valentin. There's a lot to celebrate; Matthew’s hair's got a bit greyer, Rachel’s Science Fiction and Fantasy shelves have continued their eastwards march, and Lea has developed an almost genius-like ability to find any book we have in stock, even the most obscure ones.

To celebrate books, books and even more books, we are inviting you to celebrate our anniversary on Saturday, 25th April from 10.00 to 16.00.

There will be a treasure hunt so you can browse and win prizes, more scones than anyone can possibly eat in a lifetime, and a photo booth to have your piccie taken surrounded by books.

If this sounds like fun, then just mark the date in the diary and come along when it suits you. No need to sign up.

Amy (PhD in Nature Writing) and Sylvia (Apocaloptimist) will be facilitating this new book club and warmly invite you to its launch on Tuesday, 21st April at 7pm until 8.15pm.
