Kiosque Biblique

Kiosque Biblique is a Christian stall situated on the lake front in Montreux. The kiosque is owned by the local Christian bookshop and run by volunteers.

The Kisoque Biblique is a small wooden chalet that is situated by Lake Geneva in Montreux. The kiosque was built in 1965. The kiosque sells Bibles and books in many languages and various souvenirs like postcards and magnets. Everybody is offered a free leaflet about the Christian faith in their own language. The kiosque has a stock of Gospel literature in around 30 languages. The kiosque is strate

gically placed so that during the holiday season hundreds or even thousands of tourists pass by every day. During the Montreux Jazz Festival the kiosque is in the middle of the temporary street market that lines the waterfront. During this time the kisoque is open from 11 am to 2 am or later sharing the good news of Jesus Christ.

God willing, the kiosk will reopen over the Easter weekend starting on Friday 1st April. Please pray for lots of opportunities to share the Gospel.

The Christmas market has started! Please pray for lots of volunteers...and lots of good contacts over the next 5 weeks

The brothers and sisters from my church opened the kiosk yesterday afternoon. There were a number of good contacts. Please pray especially for a Muslim man who listened carefully as the scriptures were explained to him beginning with Genesis and ending with Isaiah 53.

Friday 15 was the last day of the mission with UBM. It was a public holiday in parts of Switzerland so there were more visitors to Montreux.

Please pray for:

1) A young Muslim convert who spoke with team members for a good ½ hour. The team was able to share the gospel.

2) 2 young ladies from Valais Canton. They talked with team member for 20 minutes. We were able to share the gospel.

3) Young couple who stayed for ¼ hour. Each took a NT in their respective language.

4) A Ukrainian family stopped at the Question of the Day. Were able to share the gospel in a mix of French & Russian.

5) A young couple from Turkey and Italy. They spoke with us long enough to share the gospel.

6) Long discussion with 3 young Swiss men. The team was able to present God’s plan from Genesis and move to the requirement of a Saviour.

Thursday 14 August.

Quite a few good contacts. Please pray for:

+ A group of youngsters from Germany. They listened to the gospel message and accepted bracelets and tracts.

+ Quite a few children who received God's friend booklet.

+ A Muslim young man who said he prays every day. Pray he will accept Jesus as his Lord and Saviour.

+ A child who accepted booklet on Jesus the shepherd and his parents who talked at length about a bible verse.

Barbara and Guillaume who work for the Casino listened attentively to the gospel message and how to say the prayer to accept Christ. Pray that they would take that step.

13 August. The good contacts continue. Please pray for strength for the UBM team for the last two days - it is hot and some are not sleeping well.

Please pray for:
+A Portuguese man who heard the Gospel
+ Two Farsi speakers who accepted a Farsi Bible and listened to the Gospel being explained.
+ A Jewish family with children who accepted balloons and a Friend of God booklet.
+ A man from the Philippines who accepted a Bible.
+ A Swiss person who accepted a Bible during the Jazz Festival and whom the team was able to witness to again.

The heat has meant there are not so many people walking past, but there were still some good contacts yesterday. This week the team plan to open a little later and stay later - 15:00 to 20:00

The mission with an Arab speaking team ended yesterday, but yesterday the team from United Beach Missions started. Please pray for many good contacts and strength for the team in this hot weather.

The mission to tourists with an Arabic speaking team started yesterday. God willing the team will be there for the next 10 days from around 15:00 to 21:00.

Please pray for many good contacts especially on 1st August - the Swiss national day.

Here are the some prayer points produced by the team leader of the United Beach Mission team of the second week of the Jazz Festival:

Please pray for:

1) a Turkish man and his family touring Europe, who heard that "As in Adam all die, even so in Christ shall all be made alive".

2) a man who reluctantly heard about Christ.

3) a religious woman who didn't know about life after death. She seemed enthusiastic to read John's Gospel.

4) a young man from Scotland who spoke for a long time with a team member. He seemed shocked by the gospel and later came back for a Bible of his own.

5) a local man who was passed contact details for a local evangelical church.

6) a local man, providentially met on a team member's break. He had studied the gospels intensively but was surprised to hear about the unique Sonship of Jesus.

7) a local woman who listened carefully and then took a New Testament in Dari for her Afghan friend.

8) all the children who took balloons, gospel bracelets and the French translation of “Jesus the Shepherd”.
