Chengdu is a sub-provincial city which has served as capital of China's Sichuan province. It is now one of the most important economic, financial, commercial, cultural, transportation, and communication centers in Western China. Chengdu is the host city of the 31st summer edition of the FISU World University Games and The World Games 2025. It is the third city in China to have two international airports. Chengdu also hosts over 4000 foreign-invested enterprises and 23 consulates. More than 300 Fortune 500 companies have established branches in Chengdu.

Recently, a special 800-metre relay race took place at a middle school in Qionglai. Before the race, student Xia Jian suffered a recurrence of an old injury and was supposed to withdraw. This was their last high school sports meet, and she didn’t want to leave with regret. Eight of her classmates agreed to take turns, each pushing her wheelchair for 100 metres, so they could finish the race together. Netizens call them the real-life Shi Tiesheng and Yu Hua — a touching reference to the legendary bond between the two Chinese writers.
