How to choose the right silicone wire and match wire gauge with current rating

# # 1. AWG Gauge & Current Rating Chart (Silicone Wire)
*Ambient temperature: 25°C, wire length ≤ 30cm (common for RC models)

**Notes**:
- Continuous Current: Rated for long-term operation without obvious overheating.
- Peak Current: Maximum current for short-duration load (within 10 seconds).
- Derate the current rating if wires are longer than 30cm, operating at high temperature or tightly bundled.

# # 2. Wire Selection for Drones & RC Cars
# # # Power Wires (Battery to ESC / ESC to Motor)
- Mini drones (150–250 class, ≤4S battery, ≤20A): **18AWG**
- Mainstream FPV drones (250–450 class, 4S battery, 20–40A): **16AWG / 14AWG**
- Heavy-lift & long-flight drones (6S battery, 40–70A): **12AWG**
- Large multirotors (8S battery, 70–100A): **10AWG**

# # # RC Cars (Off-road / Racing / Rock Crawler)
- 1/16 ~ 1/10 scale (low torque, ≤30A): **16AWG**
- 1/8 scale off-road & racing (40–60A): **14AWG**
- 1/8 scale rock crawler & monster truck (60–80A): **12AWG**

# # # Signal Wires (Flight Controller / Receiver / Servos)
Use **22–24AWG multi-core shielded wires**. They feature high flexibility, anti-vibration and anti-interference performance.

# # 3. Quick Selection Rules
- Below 20A: 18AWG
- 20–40A: 16AWG
- 40–60A: 14AWG
- 60–80A: 12AWG
- Above 80A: 10AWG
- If wire length exceeds 50cm: Choose one gauge thicker.

# # 4. Key Parameters & Purchase Tips
- Conductor: **Multi-strand tinned copper** (flexible, anti-oxidation, anti-vibration)
- Insulation: Silicone rubber (Temperature resistance: -60°C ~ +200°C). PVC insulation is not recommended for high-current use due to poor heat resistance.
- Color coding: Red for positive pole, black for negative pole; white/yellow/orange for signal wires for easy maintenance.

# # 5. Application Examples
- 4S 1500mAh FPV drone, motor peak current 35A → **14AWG**
- 6S 5000mAh agricultural drone, single unit current 60A → **12AWG**
- 1/8 scale electric off-road car with 60A ESC → **14AWG**
