The parts for the driveshaft between center transmission and solid rear axle of our Ghost Rabbit GR1 have returned from surface treatment. Thanks to a new supplier we can now provide an almost mirror-like surface on these components.
Quality should never come without style.

Assembly of the cars can go on now...

Search for a lubricant to meet our requirements for Ghost Rabbit GR1 center transmission application led us to a high speed high temp grease which is imported from Sweden.
So far, nothing has come close to this stuff.
Even though this grease is definitely more expensive than regular lubricants, we always strive for the best results and we believe that our car deserves it.

This grease stays on the gears without over-filling the transmission case and that's what it's all about.

Test run of the center gearbox of our Ghost Rabbit GR1 4WD buggy. We check the temperatures of the components and can confirm with good conscience that the actuation fork for the rear axle disconnect creates no mentionable unwanted friction. The temperature at this point, which hardly rises above ambient temperature and stays significantly lower than the temperature of motor and transmission housing, is proof of this.

The GR1 has a lot more features than the average large scale car. Of course, the additional moving parts will ask for some maintenance, that's unavoidable with any off-road vehicle.

In order to keep the effort reasonable, the car's modular design allows for fast removal of complete sections. I.E. the battery compartment with all radio components (except for the ESC) or the center gear box with motor, center diff and diff lock can be removed as assembled units, making way to access to all remaining parts on the chassis.

4WD/2WD selection mechanism of our Ghost Rabbit GR1solid rear axle buggy

The remote controlled clutch can disengage the rear axle. This will reduce the tendency for back flips when driving on very steep inclines.

The system comes as standard equipment with the GR1, just like the two remote diff locks for center and rear.
Servos for activation (standard size 20 x 40 mm, two pieces) are not included and must be supplied by the customer.

Maiden run for a serial production Ghost Rabbit GR1.

The 4WD buggy with IFS and solid rear axle climbs a staircase to loosen its muscles.

The surface of the stairs is tile, very smooth; but tire diameter, ground clearance, approach angle and - of course - the remote diff locks of the Ghost Rabbit GR1 allowed the car to negotiate the stairs barrier.

One has to keep in mind that the GR1 is not a dedicated slow speed crawler, it is capable of high speeds as well.

As mentioned with another video the quick-access design in our car is not limited to the front diff only. As you can see, the same system is used at the rear axle as well.

The box on the cover is the housing for the optional LED tail light.

Ghost Rabbit GR1 suspension flex

The 4-link solid rear axle suspension gives an impressive 185 mm of axle articulation. Combined with its high ground clearance and remote diff locks this will allow for some serious off-roading...

Ground clearance under the chassis is very high with nearly 120 mm, which greatly enhances off-road capabilities.

The trailing arm front mount is bolted to the bottom of the chassis tub and reaches to the outside through a hole in the side of the tub. That way the chassis' strong 5 mm sidewall works as an additional brace without the need for more bolts. This improves the strength of the mounting point significantly without causing inconvenience for maintenance tasks.
