Have You Made 5 Common Mistakes with Convolute Wheels?
Poor performance, short wheel life, burned workpieces... Many times it's not a convolute wheels product issue – it's how you use it.
Check these 5 common mistakes below.
1. Higher speed = better results?
No. Too much speed will burn your workpiece and wear out the convolute wheel quickly. Stick to the recommended speed.
2. More pressure = faster cutting?
No. Excessive pressure cracks the abrasive, clogs the convolute wheel, and may overload your motor. Use light pressure – let the wheel do the work.
3. One wheel for all steps?
No. Coarse grit for roughing, medium/fine for finishing, super fine for polishing. Get 2-3 abrasive wheels and switch as needed.
4. Stop spinning = time to throw away?
No. Try dressing the surface first (with a dressing stone or stick) to remove the clogged layer and expose fresh abrasive. The wheel can last much longer.
5. One wheel for all materials?
No. Stainless steel, soft aluminum, and leather all require different grinding wheels. Tell us what you're grinding – we'll help you pick the right one.

Wrong usage kills even the best wheel.
