Tradition Now is a homeware and clothing brand devoted to reviving threatened folk arts
and crafts of the island of Cyprus. Scouting to record, document and preserve cultural narratives by sourcing artifacts of community to celebrate their origins and stories that may be otherwise forgotten.

• Reintroducing past traditions to meet current demands with new elevated designs. Tradition Now began with sourcing local crafts of Cyprus for the wedding décor, favors and outfits of the co-founders Christina Socratous and Apostolos Papatheocharous in 2018. Their discoveries launched a life aspiration of supporting their heritage and help prevent it from drifting away with time. The modern day doesn't always make it viable for local inhabitants to invest in learning these crafts, which puts them at risk of being forgotten entirely. Tradition Now aspires to bring back awareness and revive appreciation
by reintroducing traditional crafts to current lifestyles. Today the company has successfully fortified the recreation of home décors, basket weaving, textiles,
embroidery and earthenware - all traditionally made of locally sourced natural materials. Tradition Now provides a platform to sell these invaluable, eco-friendly products, making them more accessible to everyone, whilst most importantly, supporting local artisans that help sustain our cultural heritage. Announcing our summer workshops in celebration of World Handicraft Day.

Rekindle your ancestral embroidery instincts with our Silk Cocoon Embroidered Pouch Workshop, set in the picturesque village of Lefkara.

This workshop is dedicated to reviving the folk art tradition of cocoon embroidery.

Together, we will explore the rich history of silk production on the island, followed by cutting and shaping cocoons using a variety of techniques to create delicate flowers and leaves. These will then be embroidered onto a cotton velvet fabric swatch before you sew your unique creation into a beautiful traditional pouch.

The Terra Table featured in a private residence, perfectly styled by our talented friend and interior architect

Designed by Tradition Now, this table, seat or stool is masterfully hand-built with terracotta clay by Vasoulla+Loukia using traditional coiling techniques, embellished with Kornos‑heritage decorative frill details and elevated on three legs.

Made to order.

It’s mulberry season, and that means just one thing…

Bombyx mori,
the mulberry‑tree worm,
born from tiny eggs,
awakens to the faint,
jasmine‑scented chemicals
breathed out by tender mulberry green leaves.

Within a month, the larva grows.
By secreting a shimmering protein thread
from deep within its silken glands,
it begins weaving a temporary home
with a single, unbroken strand
that can stretch up to 900 metres.

Inside, a ten‑day metamorphosis unfolds.
A moth emerges, seeking a mate,
laying new eggs, ending the cycle
and beginning it anew.

A hand‑sculpted, naively shaped cylindrical vase crafted from 100% local clay, paired with dried wheat stems for a special occasion symbolising earth and prosperity. It brings the fundamental relationship between humanity and nature to the table, offering a meaningful favour for guests.
