WHAT DOES BUNTE MARKHOR MEAN?
Bunte is a German word that translates to colourful. Markhor is the national animal of Pakistan, known for its precious long and curly horns. The animal is considered rare and is being guarded against extinction. When put together, Bunte Markhor encapsulates the soul of this platform. It’s colourful, home to rare and unique products, created by artisans who are also struggling to survive and keep centuries old craft alive.

Yes.

DO YOU ACCEPT CREDIT CARD PAYMENT?
Yes, we accept credit cards, Google, and Apple Pay, as well as PayPal.

DO YOU HAVE MORE PIECES OF SOLD OUT ITEMS?
Unfortunately not. We only have limited pieces, and once they are sold out, it’s sold out. Please subscribe to our newsletter to know when new collections are added to the store.

WHAT IS THE MINIMUM SPEND FOR FREE SHIPPING?
Delivery is free for orders over 70€. For orders less than 70€, a flat rate of 4.99€ is charged.

Jaandi is about a 300-year old craft, traditionally used to make swinging cradles (called Hindoro in Sindhi). The craft is known for its durability, delicacy and natural beauty. As the minute, coloured spots resemble tiny beads, this jandi work is called ‘jahawardar jandi’. In recent times, the craft is being employed to create other products as well, which are more apt for modern spaces with a touch of tradition, such as these vases.

As an ancestral art, it is passed down generation, and artisans use various handmade tools, such as pango (a piece cut from a frond for levelling colour on the wooden piece), rachi, palkar and khurchan (chisel). A specific type of wood called bahan is used, as it is light, dry, absorbs and retains colour well, and repels woodworms. Colours for it are made by local women, and mostly use natural ingredients.

The vase has a unique opening, and can hold a single stem - dried or artificial.
