Verena Kerfin Gallery presents GAZA by Matthew Collings and GAZA, again by Ondrej Drescher at the European Parliament in Brussels.
In his portraits, Matthew Collings commemorates Palestinian poets, artists, writers, journalists, and witnesses — the murdered, the deceased, and the living: Mosab Abu Toha, Mohammed Sami Qariqa, Nour al-Din Hajjaj, Saleem Al-Naffar, Refaat Al-Areer, Hala Alyan, Fatima Hassouna, Fadwa Tuqan, Hiba Kamal Abu Nada, and Heba Zagout.
In his paintings, Ondrej Drescher confronts the unrestrained, cold-blooded killing of children in Gaza — and the mirror image of a West that speaks of morality and humanitarian obligations while prettifying its own hideous face in front of the mirror.
The exhibition at the European Parliament will sadly not be able to save the life of any child in Gaza, any artist, any mother, or any father. But for five days, it can hold before the eyes of those responsible for Western propaganda, those responsible for arms exports to Israel, and the “moral” supporters in Parliament the blood and death they cause and support.
