Achiote seeds (Annatto seeds) are used to impart a yellow/orange color to foods, however as in our case it is used to dye our locally sourced sheep wool 🐑

This is Rosita. She has been working for Teje Mujeres for several years, and is one of the members who also benefits from the sales of her own whool. On her piece of land she keeps several free-roaming sheep that care for the landscape and whose wool we use for our tapestries.
