Join us for our first ever speed dating event next Wednesday! Free! Q***r Literary Speed Dating hosted by .labor.queen in Kreuzberg! Find love! Find new friends! Share very strong opinions about Rachel Cusk’s latest book or the decision criteria around the International Booker Prize! Ditch the apps and smokey bars.

Here’s the deal: you bring a book. It can be your most/least favourite or just something you like to talk about. You talk about it (what you love, hate, are confused by, how it reminds you of long childhood summers watching reruns of daytime soap operas) for a couple minutes to a speed dating partner. Then swap and they talk about theirs. After your time is up swap partners. Rinse and repeat with pauses for mingling and getting to know more about that cutie that REALLY can’t stand Miranda July.

Join Jane Flett to celebrate the publication of her second novel, Welcome to the Chaoskampf. Following a sold-out Berlin launch, we're delighted to host a second reading. Expect cults, cannibalism, and all manner of q***r chaos! As well as readings from the novel, Jane will be in conversation with Sarah Van Bonn, discussing the slippery nature of cults, the urge to escape one's life, and the purpose of writing climate dystopias in a world already on fire.

Jane Flett is a q***r Scottish author based in Berlin. Her debut novel, Freakslaw, was published in 2024 (Penguin/Zando). It was a USA Today Bestseller and hailed by CrimeReads as "possibly one of the defining novels of the century." Jane's poetry has appeared in POETRY Magazine and the Best British Poetry, and her short fiction has been commissioned for BBC Radio and highly commended in the Bridport Prize. She's written for The Guardian, The Times, and Electric Literature, and is a recipient of the Berlin Senate Stipend for Non-German literature.

Everything is change. When we opened, this shop was an empty shell. Ilya filled it with found furniture and decor acquired over a lifetime of collecting. And of course, books. Mostly Ilya filled it with himself. For over two years he was there almost every day, stacking, moving, guiding, sharing, building. And talking. Ilya always seemed most comfortable in motion, in action, in conversation. Two years later Ilya’s here but he’s not. Things continue to change but we keep noticing the things that are still, unmoved. We see his presence in cups of tea, shelf labels, cigarette papers. And of course, books. We feel his absence, everywhere.
