Die kleine wunderkammer is proud to host from the 11th until the 25th of november "THE THREAD OF SPEECH" an exhibition by the artist Maria Silvano.

- THE THREAD OF SPEECH

Embroidery is a technique that requires time, precision and concentration. I think about this with my son Miro in my arms, in our living room invaded by his toys and questions, and I realize what a tiring and sublime exercise it is for me to carve out time to weave the threads.

I started working on “the thread of speech” during the first lockdown when I was freshly pregnant with our second child, feeling sick and with no time at all. All the kindergartens and schools were closed and there was no time to think about what was happening in my body. During this time I forced myself to sit and ignore everyone for a few minutes every day, weaving through the threads and trying to find the thread again. A way to connect with myself, to the baby that was growing silently inside of me and later, return to my daily duties.

The photos I embroidered were found in my grandmother’s house after her death. They were shot by her uncle Manlio in the 1930s in what was then Yugoslavia.

- BIO

Maria Silvano (Venice 1986) started working with photography during a field work in Spain on the occasion of her final thesis in Cultural Anthropology. She lived and worked in a Gipsy community documenting their struggle to defend and value their culture. She has collaborated as photographer with international arts festival, universities, galleries and theatres.

Lives and works in Berlin where she is pursing her research, focused on the relation between humans and their environments and motherhood.

"the circle of life" an exhibition by the artist Giulia di Clemente.

"Exhibition can be visited from the 26th to the 31th of may, break from the 1th to the 15th of june, will reopen the 16th until the 30th
of june."

Giulia Di Clemente was born in Italy in Narni (TR) on January 8, 1997.
Visual artist, eclectic and versatile. Drawing is her main medium which she adopts as a basis
for various expressive methodologies such as painting, photography, installation and artist
books.

Allegories have always been used to make abstract concepts clear to everyone.
It is the same process that implements our mind unconsciously for reprocess and defend ourselves from
traumatic memories.
The artist Giulia Di Clemente deals with topics concerning neuroscience and processes of the mind, using metaphors and allegories inspired by the world of nature, archetypes and mythologies, appealing to the romantic vision of the medieval world which sees a meaning in every creature and object.
Art, the bearer of timeless beauty, reminds us how
much we can hope to be remembered forever.
