Baby Smith: 21:00 - 22:00

Baby Smith will be signing copies of their new album 'Lately, Love Is Dead', exclusively available at Rough Trade Berlin for Fête de la Musique, and a few weeks before its official release date in July.

Ray Sonder and Saxon Gable grew up in sleepy beach towns on Australia’s east coast. Their parents were hippies and rockers, and they grew up listening to Nirvana and The Beach Boys on the car radio whether they liked it or not. In a world saturated with noise, Baby Smith plunge us into a raw, forever expanding galaxy of love, and its demise.

KURT: 20:00 - 20:30

I walk on stage wearing a tie. It’s not a joke. Or maybe it is. The tie is my alter ego. A white man I get to borrow. I put him on so I can take up space without anyone getting confused. When i get tired of it, I'll wear something that is screaming how obsessed I am of being a woman, a black woman! Some good stuff to know is that if you ever have the opportunity to come to a show, We form a circle. Close. Focused. A bit intense. It looks like a cult, but no one is forced to stay. Hopefully you don't want to leave. The music can be hard to place sometimes. Thing is, we don't always have to have an opinion. But for you this time I'm going to make it easy. Let's call the genre, DANCE. It doesn’t really behave like it should and i've been doing this for a while now. Different names, different rooms, same intent. But this one feels accurate. I AM KURT.

Meet the artists playing the Fête de la Musique Rough Trade Outdoor Stage on 21st June:

Güner Künier: 19:00 - 19:30 followed by a signing session at Rough Trade Berlin.

"Yaramaz" is a Turkish word; translated literally, it means something like "good-for-nothing." The term is often used towards small children when they are being cheeky and rebellious. Güner Künier named her second album "Yaramaz" to tell her own coming-of-age story through the means of punk and post-punk.

Post-punk and minimal/synth-wave are the main musical reference points on "Yaramaz," but there are many other (sub)genres that have left their mark. Expansive shoegaze sounds, a touch of krautrock and also echoes of riot grrrl. Overall, "Yaramaz" sounds like an empowering album with a simple yet important message: follow your own path and don't let anything deter you.

K’BOKO (Kabôko) is a Berlin-based Brazilian artist working across DJing, live performance, and percussion. His sound navigates afro-diasporic bass music, merging Afro-Brazilian rhythms with electronic production, heavy 808s, and live instrumentation.

Rooted in ancestral traditions and driven by a contemporary vision, K’BOKO creates what he defines as “ancient future vibes” — a sonic bridge between ritual, club culture, and Afrofuturism. His work resists the reduction of traditional music into samples, instead reactivating rhythm as a living, spiritual, and physical force on the dancefloor.

Maiorano: 15:00 - 15:30

Maiorano delivers a distinctive blend of rootsy, sun-drenched pop, layered with touches of soul, funk, and groovy nostalgia. Fronted by Italian-born singer and guitarist Alex Maiorano, the band includes lifelong friends Alessio D’Alessandro on drums and Nicola Battistelli on saxophone and keyboards, with Argentinian musician Mauro Martinez (bass/guitar) completing the lineup. The band’s sound is led by Alex’s warm, laid-back vocals, alongside reverb-soaked clean guitars, a tight rhythm section, and subtle, emotional sax lines.

Berlin Hip-Hop Akademie Cypher: 14:00 - 14:30

The Berlin HipHop Academy is a platform for urban culture, creative education, and cultural participation in Berlin. Since 2023, the collective has been working with teenagers and young adults across various Berlin districts, creating spaces for artistic expression, connection, and personal development.

Founded by Drob Dynamic, the Academy combines HipHop culture with educational practice and contemporary youth work. Through workshops, sessions, and cultural projects, participants create their own songs, beats, performances, graffiti pieces, and audiovisual formats.
