The Making of Tembo: Episode 02

15/06/2026

Last week we had the privilege to be a part of the Abbey Road Studio Four event at SXSW London
Side by side with incredible companies and instruments we reminded people the joy of playing with music, regardless of age and level.
Thank you to Abbey Road

This year at , we brought our grid to life with a giant, human-sized Tembo jam session.

Stepping in as the physical “magnetic beats” on a 3x5 meter replica, children collaborated to build a beat by playing percussion instruments, clapping, and vocalizing. After the live performance, they got hands on with Tembo. Watching their faces light up as they intuitively built their own tracks was absolutely an unforgettable experience and true music to our ears.

Thank you Berlin!

Tembo’s first was exceptional! In the midst of this audio gear jungle stood a playful wooden drum-machine, that caught serious attention, and produced a lot of smiles…
A huge thank you for the guys at for hosting us!
See you next week at !

So inspired by what put together here. Just wait for the keys to come in.

Sanaya Ardeshir builds these worlds that feel both intimate and massive at the same time. Piano, electronics, texture, emotion all moving together.

Loved hearing what she created with Tembo.

It feels a little weird to just say ”We’re sold out” after the most intense, beautiful, and surreal week of our lives.

In less than 7 days, over 5,000 of you came together to pledge over $2 Million to help us bring Tembo into the world. You validated years of prototyping, designing, and dreaming about a screen-free, tactile way to make music.

We made the decision to close the campaign early. We reached our absolute maximum capacity for this first production run, and as a small team, we owe it to our early backers to put 100% of our focus into manufacturing. We want the instrument that arrives at your door to be absolutely perfect.

But this isn’t goodbye. It’s actually just day one.

The hype of the launch might be over, but the journey of actually building Tembo starts now. We are going to be sharing new content, and showing you all the ways this instrument can be played. We are so incredibly grateful to have you on this ride with us.

If you missed out on this first batch, please don’t worry. We are setting up our next production run as soon as we can.

Head to the link in our bio to join the official waitlist on our website. You will be the very first to know when Tembo is available again.

Thank you, from the bottom of our hearts 🤎

Always blown away by the creativity and artistry from . Proving how Tembo can take everyday sounds, and blend them into studio ready beats.
