The first decals are officially on the 1/20 Fiat 131 Abarth build. Seeing those classic rally markings go down always makes a kit feel like a real car.

Stay tuned for more progress updates soon!

First paint layers are ON for the Fiat 131 Abarth!

I've just published a detailed breakdown on Patreon covering my dual-primer technique for yellow/blue and how I prepare the surface for decals.

Fiat 131 Abarth build update!

Step 2 focuses on body prep. Fabricated the internal hood framing, laid down a clean coat of primer, and added an Indian ink wash into the panel lines to bring out those iconic rally body details.

Another small detail for the Fiat Abarth 131 Rally.
The steering column received a little scratch-built upgrade, using turned metal parts and a few modifications to make it look closer to the real thing.

Made some progress on the Fiat Abarth 131; photo-etched details installed on the pedals (brake, accelerator, clutch) and the co-driver's footrest.
Sprayed the seats with textured paint over a black base (pro tip: you definitely need a 0.4 mm airbrush nozzle for this!).

I machined this shock absorber rod from solid aluminum on my lathe, replacing the original plastic part from the kit.

It’s just a small part, but these are the kind of details that can really make a scale model stand out.

More custom-machined parts are coming for this build!

Fiat Abarth 131 Rally – Workshop Update

I’ve been spending a lot of time machining custom metal parts for this build. This small aluminum component alone took around 3 hours on the lathe!

I’m also working on a custom brass driveshaft, aluminum shock absorber rods, and the four metallic-looking tanks in the trunk.

There’s a lot more work going into this build than usual.
