Christina Kramer greift in ihren mehrschichtigen Siebdrucken Motive aus der Neurobiologie auf und bewegt sich zwischen mikroskopischer Innenwelt und äußerer Wahrnehmung. Jennifer Segebrecht erkundet in ihrem Text, wie gemachte Erfahrungen unser gegenwärtiges Erleben formen und beeinflussen. Christina Kramer (*1979 in Osnabrück) ist bildende Künstlerin. Sie studierte an der Kunstakademie Düsseldorf und der Universität zu Köln und ist Meisterschülerin von Prof. Hubert Kiecol. In ihrer künstlerischen Auseinandersetzung verhandelt sie Formen, Prozesse und Zustände des Denkens und der Wahrnehmung; das Flüchtige und gleichzeitig Komplexe.

Jennifer Segebrecht (*1991 in Köln) ist Autorin und Wirtschaftspsychologin. Sie war Stipendiatin des »1:1« Mentoringprogramms für NRW-Schriftsteller*innen, gewann den Publikumspreis im Finale des Kölner Förderpreises für junge Literatur und veröffentlichte u.a. die Kurzgeschichte Etiketten in DAS GRAMM. Ihr Debütroman Muttertage erscheint im August 2026 bei Pfaueninsel.

Welcome Home zeigt Arbeiten von Christina Kramer aus den letzten fünf Jahren, die vom artbooks Team ausgewählt wurden.

Die Siebdrucke eröffnen Welten des Inneren und Äußeren, die sich überschneiden, überlagern und verbinden.

In den Arbeiten thematisiert die Künstlerin den Blick auf sich und in ihr Inneres, ungeschönt, verletzlich, kraft- und verständnisvoll. Diese Tiefe und Verbundenheit, die sich ergebenden Synergien und Dynamiken spiegeln überdies den Ausstellungsort, der von Personen, Emotionen, Erinnerungen und Beziehungen geprägt ist, von Vertrautheit und Energie – eine Art Zuhause.

Alles hängt zusammen: Seien es die Pflanzenstrukturen (Am Ende bin ich nur ich selbst I), die sich in den feinen zerebralen Verästelungen (Powerhouse I & II) wiederfinden oder der Funke (Trust Me IV & V), der der Aktivität einer Nervenzelle (Star) ähnelt. Äußeres und Inneres verbindet sich. Zugleich zieht das Miteinander, Über- und Nebeneinander der Farben unseren Blick in die Tiefe, lässt uns nähertreten, um Details auszumachen, dem Leuchten der Farben auf den Grund zu gehen, bis das Motiv verschwimmt und sich erst beim Zurücktreten in unserem Auge wieder zusammensetzt. Und so verändern wir unsere Perspektive stetig, um immer wieder Neues zu entdecken in den Punkten und Pixeln, die sich verknüpfen und verbinden.

S*x, Clubs, Dissent charts an expansive visual history of q***r nightlife through the lens of photographers, filmmakers, and artists. Edited by author Amelia Abraham, the book explores how image-making has fostered, and at times jeopardised, the formation of q***r practices, subcultures, and forms of resistance. It asks what our decades-long quest to catalogue and understand nightlife spaces through photography and film can tell us about our various relationships with them, and how photography intersects with pleasure, politics, and protest.

As much as an assertion that ‘we were here’, images of q***r nightlife – real or otherwise – can be erotic, amusing, alienating, violent, or exuberantly joyful, moving us to seek out our own dancefloor, strip club, or sauna. Rather than a comprehensive catalogue or chronology of q***r nightlife, S*x, Clubs, Dissent is a love letter to those who went out and stayed out, felt the urge to document or reflect what was happening, or who have used their artmaking to dream new modes of being into existence.

Design and Violence

Design has a history of violence, yet professional discourse around design has been dominated by voices that only trumpet its commercial and aesthetic successes. Violence, defined here as the manifestation of the power to alter circumstances against the will of others and to their detriment, has always been ubiquitous, and in recent years technology has introduced dramatic new threats. Design and Violence sheds light on the complex impact of design on the built environment and on everyday life, as well as on the forms of violence in contemporary society.

Published to accompany an online experiment launched by The Museum of Modern Art in 2013, this book brings together controversial, provocative, and compelling design projects with leading voices from the fields of art and design, science, law, criminal justice, ethics, finance, journalism, and social justice. Each author responds to one object—ranging from an AK-47 to a Euthanasia Rollercoaster, from plastic handcuffs to the Stuxnet digital virus—sparking dialogue, reflection, and debate. 44 Irving Street, 1970–1971 by

Published by in collaboration with on the occasion of Meiselas’s exhibition of the same name at the gallery.

In 1970, while a student at the Harvard Graduate School of Education, Susan Meiselas was living in a boarding house at 44 Irving Street in Cambridge, Massachusetts. What began as a class project evolved into a deeply empathetic portrait of community domestic life. Meiselas photographed her neighbors in the building—many of them strangers—inside their rooms, initiating a collaborative exchange by sharing contact sheets and inviting written responses. These reflections appear alongside the photographs, offering insight into how her subjects saw themselves.
Boarding houses like 44 Irving Street were transitional spaces, yet Meiselas found individuality and self-expression in each room. Her portraits—full of personal detail and visual texture—reveal a rich inner life often hidden in shared housing. The handwritten letters act as a kind of written punctum, a counterpoint to the image that pierces the surface with honesty and introspection.

This early body of work helped shape Meiselas’s enduring approach to photography as a form of connection and dialogue. “It wasn’t about the formalism of photography,” she notes. “It was about the narrative and the connectivity.”

44 Irving Street, 1970–1971 marks the first time this complete series has been published in book form. The book includes two tip-ins: a photograph and a contact sheet from the original project.

Between restlessness and lightness, Fusako Kodama portrays a certain effervescence of modern Japan. From 1960 to 1980, she captures the atmosphere of cities and villages inhabited by animated beings. Through her unusual and spontaneous framing, the prolific photographer casts a gaze that is both gentle and vibrant over twenty years of Japan.

Movement is constant; disorder occurs at times; gestures are carefree and instinctive: Fusako Kodama captures forward momentum. Her spontaneous photographs summon surprising perspectives where subjects appear slightly out of sync.

1960-1980 is the first book by Fusako Kodama published in the West, where she is still relatively unknown. This work aligns with the ongoing efforts of Chose Commune, which aims to shed light on contemporary Japanese photographers beyond their country of origin.
