A media design apprentice from another company approached us and asked if he could film his final exam project at our Jellyfish Farm. Of course, we said yes.

Now that he has successfully passed his final exam, we’re finally allowed to share the result.

Pelagia noctiluca — the Mauve Stinger.

Filmed in the wild waters of Sa Calobra, Mallorca. 🌊✨

This beautiful jellyfish is not only one of the Mediterranean’s most iconic species, it also has a remarkably unusual life cycle. Unlike most jellyfish, Pelagia noctiluca completely skips the attached polyp stage. After fertilization, the larvae develop directly into free-swimming jellyfish in the open ocean.

A reminder that some of nature’s most elegant creatures are also among its most fascinating evolutionary stories.

🪼 Tiny predators. Alien elegance.
Today we transferred our Cyanea versicolor — the dwarf lion’s mane jellyfish — from the larval system into their grow-out tank.

Watching these juveniles develop is unreal: delicate bell formation, increasing symmetry, and the first signs of their characteristic trailing tentacles. Every stage feels like observing evolution in motion.

Marine life is far more complex — and beautiful — than most people ever get to see. 🌊✨

Raising a strong new batch of Pacific Sea Nettles (Chrysaora fuscescens) 🪼

One of the most iconic jellyfish species found in major public aquariums around the world — and we’re excited to have a healthy new generation growing in our culture system again.

The juveniles are now developing their long hunting tentacles and starting to transition into active predators feeding on other small jellyfish and zooplankton.

Amazing to watch these animals develop from tiny ephyrae into graceful open-water hunters.
