In 2017, a university employee in Rome took time off to care for her sick English Setter, and won the legal battle that followed. 🐶

But what was the argument about? That leaving a suffering animal alone isn't just heartbreaking. Under Italian law, it could actually be considered a criminal offense.

That ruling set a precedent. And now, Italy is taking it further, as a bill is currently being proposed to formally grant workers paid leave to care for a sick pet. Up to three days a year, with a vet certificate.

It's a small shift on paper. But what it says is big: pets are family. And no one should have to choose between their paycheck and their animal.

Maybe a kinder world is built exactly like this: one small act of care at a time.

Have you ever taken time off work to care for your pet? 🐾

🐾 A new chapter begins at Cat Land 2.0 in the heart of the Danube Bend.

Our first cat-proof terrace is now complete, and two brave little FeLV-positive cat residents have already moved in to test their new surroundings. 🐈‍⬛

But this is only the beginning. More developments, more freedom, and maybe even more furry residents are coming soon… 🐱

Some changes in the World don’t happen overnight, but they do begin with awareness. ‼️
A recent article by World Animal News highlights a critical moment in the global shift away from animal testing. While millions of animals are still used in laboratories each year, momentum is building towards more humane and scientifically reliable alternatives.
From new government roadmaps to the growing acceptance of non-animal testing methods, there are real signs that change is not only possible, it’s already underway!
At my Tikkun, we believe that repairing the World happens step by step. Moving beyond animal experimentation is one of those steps.
And there are small, conscious choices we can make every day to support this shift:
✅choosing cruelty-free and vegan products,
✅supporting local and artisanal brands,
✅becoming more aware of what stands behind the items we buy.
If you’d like to understand where things stand today and what the future might hold, we recommend reading the full article.

What does Tikkun mean to you? 🌿

Sometimes, it’s not about the big things, but the small, conscious choices that shape the world around us every day.

𝕄𝕒𝕪 𝕥𝕙𝕖 𝟜𝕥𝕙 𝕓𝕖 𝕨𝕚𝕥𝕙 𝕪𝕠𝕦… and with all sentient beings. ✨

On this Star Wars Day, we remember Kenneth Colley (known to many as Admiral Piett from The Empire Strikes Back) but to us, a quiet hero off screen too. 🐾

His legacy isn’t just in film, but in compassion: a lifelong supporter of a cat sanctuary, and a reminder that kindness matters just as much as any role we play.

Today is World Bee Day. 🐝

Bees have been part of human life for a very long time. Cave paintings from prehistoric times already show people collecting honey, which tells us that this relationship goes back further than we might think.

Hungarian author Weiner Sennyey Tibor writes about exactly this in his essay published in the Uránia Interdisciplinary Journal. He traces the long history between humans and bees, and puts it simply. When we treated bees as partners, the relationship flourished. When we exploited and destroyed them, it was a disaster. 🥺

And the stakes are pretty high now. Bees are responsible for pollinating at least two thirds of the World's flowering plants. No bees means no pollination. No pollination means no harvest. It is not complicated, and it is not abstract.

It is something we can all do something about, one conscious step at a time, by protecting a prescious species like bees. From planting bee-friendly flowers, to avoiding pesticides and herbicides, or leaving natural places in the garden to let wild flowers grow, there are many small gestures we can do for them. 🌍

Memento is a memorial in Poland dedicated to the suffering of animals. To best of our knowledge, it is the only one of its kind in the World.

What Memento does, and what we try to do at my Tikkun, points in the same direction. Acknowledging what is happening to sentient beings, and then actually doing something about it. One conscious step at a time. 🕯️

Today the World marks the Day for Laboratory Animals. 🌍

Did you know that there is a small bronze statue in Novosibirsk, Russia, showing a mouse, knitting a DNA double helix? It is called the Monument to the Laboratory Mouse, and it stands outside the Institute of Cytology and Genetics as a public acknowledgment of the role mice have played in scientific research. Not a celebration, not a justification, just a recognition that these animals have contributed to discoveries that changed medicine, and that this contribution comes at a real price paid by sentient beings who had no say in it.

Animal testing is not an easy topic. Millions of sentient beings spend their lives in research facilities, with no choice in the matter. The numbers are large enough to feel abstract, but behind every number there is an individual creature that feels pain, stress, and fear just as us, humans do. 💙

Let us all acknowledge what the reality of human-animal relations is right now, and move forward in the conviction that us humans can do better. Alternatives to animal testing exist and are developing every year. Awareness is growing. Things are moving, slowly but surely. 🌱

Every conscious step matters. Today is a good day to take one. 🤗

Today is World Earth Day. 🌍

Every year on 22nd April, people in more than 190 countries pause to reflect on the state of our planet. Each year has a theme, and this year it’s "Our Power, Our Planet". This is a great reminder that meaningful change does not come from governments alone, but from people making conscious choices every day.

We believe that the World cannot be fixed all at once. It needs each of us to take one small, conscious step. Towards kinder choices, more awareness and a World that works a little better for all sentient beings. 🌱

That is what Tikkun means to us. Repairing the World, one step at a time.
