🛩️ **NEW RELEASE: Junkers Ju 288A-2/R1 "Schnellbomber" — 1/72 & 1/48**
What if the Luftwaffe's most ambitious bomber program had actually worked?
The historical Bomber B program collapsed under the weight of its own ambition — the Jumo 222 engines meant to power it never reached mass-production reliability. This kit imagines a different 1945: one where the 24-cylinder Jumo 222 E/F finally matures, and the Ju 288A airframe gets its shot at frontline service.
In this "what-if" timeline, the production Ju 288A-2/R1 takes to the skies over Western Europe in early 1946 — pressurized cockpit, remote periscopic defensive turrets, and twin 2,500 hp Jumo 222 E/F engines swinging contra-rotating props. Top speed: 670+ km/h (415 mph) at altitude, fast enough to make Allied interceptors work for it.
The /R1 (Rüstsatz 1) fit-out is built for deep-strike missions — enlarged internal bomb bay plus twin underwing drop tanks for extended range.
