A nice short film featuring an Eames Elephant, some Alexander Girard Wooden Dolls.... and two very familiar looking characters on a motorbike.

Ahead of the Spinnerei Leipzig Rundgang 2013 our Vitra Eames Elephant took himself off on his own tour through and around the Spinnerei grounds and buildings........

Cirque du Vitra

The VitraHaus isn't just about design, furniture and designer furniture.... It's also home to the winter base of the Cirque du Vitra. With spring in the air the circus is getting ready to head out on the road once more, and VitraHaus visitors currently have the chance to watch the rehearsals.......

Landen by Konstantin Grcic

Yes it looks like the perfect location for building a campfire and toasting a few marshmallows, however that is not really to be recommended..... Landen by Konstantin Grcic was created in 2007 as part of the Vitra Edition programme and is part of an exploration into public seating and creating privacy in public spaces. And can currently be viewed, tested and enjoyed in front of the VitraHaus.

Some views on SANAA Factory Building, the latest addition to the Vitra Campus, complete with an extensive photo gallery.

In December 2012 Vitrashop, the shop fitting arm of the Vitra Group, and of course the original rock on which the Vitra seed germinated and grew, took formal occupation of their new distribution centre.

Vitra Conference Pavillion by Tadao Ando on the Vitra Campus, Weil am Rhein

Japanese architect Tadao Ando never imagined he could or would create a building outside Japan.... until he saw the blossoming cherry trees in Weil am Rhein. Completed in 1993 his Conference Pavilion is respectful of the trees, sitting as it does quietly in the background and not rising higher than them. As such the best time to view Tadao Ando's Conference Pavilion is of course cherry blossom time...

As part of the VitraHaus 2012 Christmas decorations, various Vitra designers reveal what they like to give as gifts. And so we learn that Antonio Citterio gifts handwoven wool blankets, Jasper Morrison's friends should start making space for porcelain snowballs, while those of you lucky enough to know Edward Barber can look forward to a traditional Sussex Trug. Wonderful.

These and many more gift ideas are currently on display in the VitraHaus under the motto "Christmas presents selected by..."

Which of course poses the obvious, if selfish, question, if you could select one object from the current VitraHaus exhibition what would it be ..... ?

"Hi Vitrahaus,

We published a story about you on Bravo Your City! It was written by an Australian contributor who lives in Paris.

If you like it, please share.

Best,
MiSoon
editor"

Why not :)
(althogh there is one technical error in the text, but we'll ignore that. This time.... ;))

I’m a gift shop freak. I can artlessly slip straight from the entrance of a museum to the gift shop at the exit..
