IDRISS DEBY ITNO : Life and death of President Idriss Deby Itno: Idriss Déby Itno from 1990 to 2021
--------------------------------------
A few years before the fall of the Berlin Wall, France wanted to extend its military domination beyond France, particularly in Africa. It chose Chad. In order to establish itself permanently in this gigantic Central African country with its still unexplored subsoil, it had to choose its puppet. Idriss Deby, who overthrew his mentor Hissène Habré in 1990 to take power, had already undergone military training in France and therefore had the ideal profile to accomplish this mission.
Idriss Deby Itno will remain an unavoidable and unsubmissive ally of France in its geostrategy of African domination. And this, sometimes to the detriment of his own people. The Chadian people.
B-Portrait of Idriss Déby
On 4 December 1990, Idriss Déby came to power in Ndjamena at the age of 38. His accession to the summit of the state coincided with another political event of global importance, the fall of the Berlin Wall, which had collapsed 11 months earlier. A product of the Berlin Wall ceased to be a watertight border between the East and West parts of the city on the evening of 9 November 1989, a symbol of the division of the world into two blocs since its construction in August 1961. These were the precursory signs of the end of the Cold War, which reminded France, one of the United States' constituent allies in the strategic tensions with the Soviet bloc, of the need to continually reposition itself beyond its borders. The main idea was always and above all to settle permanently in Africa in order to apply a geostrategy of proximity, control of global resources, plundering of the soil and subsoil, keeping the people in abysmal misery and perpetuating the Françafrique network advocated by De Gaulle and Foccart. Françafrique translates into a system that does not want democratic governments in Africa, preferring corrupt leaders and finally transforming French-speaking Africa into a space that gives the impression of still being colonised at the beginning of this new century. Déby can therefore be considered a pure product of the Elysée's African cell, which administers African affairs in a very obscure way. This Françafrique that acted in the Central African Republic when Ange-Felix Patassé, president of the republic from 1993 to 2003 and former minister of Jean-Bedel Bokassa was democratically elected in the Central African Republic. France imposed François Bozizé, so that it could continue to freely take Central African diamonds out of the country. When Congo Brazzaville voted for a democratic president, Professor Pascal Lissouba, who wanted to share the oil revenues, the network did everything to provoke an atrocious civil war and impose Sassou Nguesso in Brazzaville[1].

Gabon: 50 Years of the Bongo Dynasty: A Tale of Power, Corruption, and Fall
------------------------------------------------
Conclusion - The Twilight of a Dynasty
As we stand here on the threshold of concluding this in-depth exploration titled "Gabon: 50 Years of the Bongo Dynasty, A Tale of Power, Corruption, and Fall," we cannot help but reflect on the numerous chapters that unveiled the complex and fascinating history of this African nation. Each of these chapters shed a different light on the decades-long reign of the Bongo dynasty and the forces that shaped Gabon's destiny.
In the early chapters, we delved into the genesis of the Bongo dynasty, exploring the historical and political origins of Gabon while meeting key players in this saga. We understood how a resource-rich country became the stage for political struggles and a controversial succession to power.
The rise of Omar Bongo, as described in the second chapter, was a defining period for Gabon. We witnessed the ascent of this charismatic politician who dominated the Gabonese stage for over two decades. His rule, characterized by absolute power and political control, laid the groundwork for the events to come.
The transition to a form of multiparty politics, detailed in the third chapter, paved the way for political contestation and democratic challenges. Gabon, like many African countries, had to grapple with the need to reform its political system to meet the aspirations of its people.
The Elf affair, exposed in the fourth chapter, immersed us in the complex world of international power and finance. We discovered how economic and political interests intertwined and how the ramifications of this affair shook not only France but also Africa.
The saga of ill-gotten gains, as discussed in the fifth chapter, highlighted the struggle for justice and restitution. Key figures in this affair, including the Bongos, were at the center of the debate on corruption and impunity.
The controversial wealth of the Bongos was the subject of the sixth chapter, shedding light on the intricacies of the situation. Money laundering allegations and the indictment of BNP Paribas added a new dimension to this saga.
The death of President Omar Bongo Ondimba and the rise of Ali Bongo were addressed in the seventh chapter, illustrating the tumultuous transition within the Bongo dynasty. We learned about key members of this political family.
The reign of Ali Bongo, the focus of the eighth chapter, was marked by an attempted coup in 2019. This period set the stage for events that would rock Gabon and highlight cracks in the existing regime.
The 2023 coup d'état, detailed in the ninth chapter, ultimately ended the Bongo dynasty. The Gabonese general elections that year were the culmination of this tumultuous period, marking a turning point in Gabon's political history. Albert Ondo Ossa and other opposition figures played a crucial role in this transition.
Finally, we examined the crucial role of the Committee for Transition and Restoration of Institutions (CTRI), which took charge of governing Gabon during this delicate period. The CTRI, led by General Brice Oligui Nguema, faced numerous challenges and critical decisions for the country.
As we close this book, Gabon stands at a crossroads in its history. The lessons drawn from these 50 years of the Bongo dynasty are many. They underscore the importance of democracy, transparency, and accountability in governing a nation. Gabon has weathered trials and upheavals but now finds itself in a position to reinvent its future.
We leave behind a history rich in events, intriguing characters, and valuable lessons. Gabon, like this book, will evolve, learn from its past, and hopefully chart a future marked by prosperity and justice for its people.

Critiques of Economic Partnership Agreements (EPAs): African Perspectives and International Stakes: The Influence of the WTO in EU-ACP Relations
-------------------------------
The exploration of critiques surrounding Economic Partnership Agreements (EPAs), from the Yaoundé Conventions (1963-1975) to the Post-Cotonou Agreements in 2023, depicts a complex and tumultuous journey in the relations between the European Union (EU) and the countries of Africa, the Caribbean, and the Pacific (ACP). This journey through time and agreements highlights interactions with the General Agreement on Tariffs and Trade (GATT) and underscores the central role of the World Trade Organization (WTO) in shaping the free trade agreements between the EU and the ACP.

The early steps of the Yaoundé Conventions were marked by the intention to establish cooperative and developmental relations between the EU and ACP countries. However, these efforts quickly raised questions about the effectiveness and fairness of unilateral trade preference mechanisms. The rise of the GATT added a new dimension to negotiations, emphasizing the need to reduce tariff barriers and further open international markets.

The role of the WTO in EU-ACP free trade agreements became pivotal as Economic Partnership Agreements took shape. The WTO set standards and rules to guide these agreements, transforming the global trade landscape. EPAs emerged in this context, aiming to establish reciprocal trade relations in line with WTO directives.

Yet, these agreements sparked debates and concerns in Africa. Critiques of EPAs emerged from various perspectives and touched on diverse aspects:

Structural Imbalance: Unequal relations between the EU and ACP countries left some nations in a position of weakness during negotiations, exacerbating existing inequalities.

Impact on Local Industries: Market openness to competitive European products could stifle the local industries of ACP countries, hindering their economic development.

Continued Dependency: Critics pointed out that EPAs could perpetuate dependence on raw material exports and limit the economic diversification of ACP countries.

Social Consequences: Accelerated trade openness could lead to job losses and increased vulnerability for vulnerable populations.

Regional Fragility: Some feared that EPAs might fragment ACP regional blocs by favoring bilateral agreements over integrated regional agreements.

In summary, from the Yaoundé Conventions to the Post-Cotonou Agreements in 2023, the history of Economic Partnership Agreements reflects a complex evolution influenced by the GATT, the WTO, and development concerns. Heated debates in Africa have shed light on persistent critiques surrounding EPAs, concerning issues of imbalance, economic and social impact, dependency, and regional fragmentation. However, these debates have also paved the way for deeper reflection on how trade relations between the EU and the ACP can be balanced to promote more sustainable and equitable development.

IDRISS DEBY ITNO: L'Assasinat du Président Idriss Déby Itno: Au Cœur des Tempêtes Tchadiennes
--------------------

The Bamileke Genocide: : Ernest Ouandie's Battle for National Liberation
-----------------
Ernest Ouandie, a prominent figure in the fight for national liberation, was a key player in the tumultuous political landscape of his time. Born in Cameroon during the colonial era, Ouandie witnessed the harsh realities of colonization and its lasting impacts on his people. As a visionary leader, he played an instrumental role in challenging the oppressive forces of neo-colonialism, the puppet regime, and dictatorial rule under Ahmadou Ahidjo.

Central to Ouandie's mission was the pursuit of Cameroon's independence and sovereignty. He tirelessly campaigned against the shackles of neo-colonialism, which sought to maintain foreign influence and exploitation over the nation's resources and governance. With unwavering determination, he organized and inspired the masses to resist the chains of external control and chart their own destiny.

Under the dictatorial reign of Ahidjo, Ouandie fearlessly stood as a fierce opponent, advocating for democratic principles and human rights. He refused to succumb to the pressures of a puppet regime that lacked legitimacy and representation of the people's will. This unwavering resistance led to his imprisonment and persecution, as he became a symbol of defiance against tyranny.

Ouandie's struggle took a poignant turn with the tragic genocide of the Bamileke people, a significant ethnic group in Cameroon. He championed the call for justice and reparations, exposing the atrocities committed during this dark chapter of history. His efforts were crucial in shedding light on the long-suppressed truths of this painful period and seeking accountability for the perpetrators.

Throughout his political journey, Ouandie's vision extended beyond national borders. He recognized the deeply entwined web of French influence in Africa, often referred to as "Françafrique." This neocolonial relationship perpetuated exploitative practices and undermined the self-determination of African nations. Ouandie actively campaigned against these enduring power structures, advocating for a united Africa free from external control.

In summary, Ernest Ouandie's political-historical biography epitomizes the struggle for national liberation, the fight against neo-colonialism, and the resistance against puppet regimes and dictatorships. His dedication to justice, human rights, and the decolonization of Africa left an indelible mark on the continent's history and continues to inspire generations of activists and leaders to this day.
