🌊So I needed a teal ‘Sashi Vest’ in my wardrobe (to keep the black, red, green and grey versions company🤷🏻‍♀️)
Did I technically need it? No. Did I emotionally and spiritually need it? Yes. 🧶
So I made it. Because that’s the beauty (and slight problem) of knitting your own wardrobe… questionable “needs” turn into very real garments.
Worked top-down in garter stitch with a combo of firm brushed wool (top) + soft alpaca (bottom) from 🧶 The decorative stitches are inspired by Japanese Sashiko - simple, repetitive, and mildly addictive 🪡
Available in 5 sizes + Sashi Vest Junior for the smaller (but equally stylish) humans.

Is there a knit design you keep making on repeat? 👀

Happy weekend, fiber queens (and kings, and everyone in between) 🧶🥂
Spring is here and so is ‘Mohair Crush’ season. Soft. Fluffy. Slightly addictive.
Just as fun to knit as it is to wear 💃
Knitted with 6 strands of Kid Silk Mohair on big needles = instant gratification ✨
Got a stash of mohair scraps? This is your moment!
Cast on now… you could be wearing your own ‘Mohair Crush’ by Sunday 😏

Available in 5 sizes, including 2 kiddo sizes.

ᵇʳᵃⁿᵈᵉᵈ ᶜᵒⁿᵗᵉⁿᵗ Postcard from Lapland 💌❄️ north of the Arctic Circle, where the days are bright with snow and the nights glow with northern lights ✨
Year 3 of this little Easter tradition… still just as magical. Me doing my thing with knitting, books and hot cocoa while the rest of the crew hits the slopes 🧶☕️⛷️
Après ski = bubbles, reindeer hotdogs over open fire, sauna rituals and late-night whirlpool bath hangs with my BFF and our wild little crew ✨ (since Sara and I met in dance school back in the day, there’s of course a healthy amount of dance improv to properly embarrass our kiddos 💃🏼)
Crisp air, endless white landscapes and us wrapped in our ‘Mohair Crush Sweaters’ in fluffy mohair from Hjerte Garn 💙❤️ And yes… my Helena Hack CoLab with the talented has been on the needles all week - can’t wait to show you what we’ve been working on 👀

ᵇʳᵃⁿᵈᵉᵈ ᶜᵒⁿᵗᵉⁿᵗ Meet the ‘Snap Knit Blouse’ ✨
I’ve been quietly plotting this yoke for a while… and I think it landed just right - with the perfect amount of drama ✨ ‘Snap Knit Blouse’ is the newest member of the family of garments that fasten at the neck with the handmade leather ‘Choker’ by yours truely.

If all goes to plan, the pattern will drop by the end of May - just in time for garden party season 🌿🍾
I’m already imagining it: Cava in hand, laughing a bit too loud at someone fabulous’ inside joke, feeling effortlessly chic 🥂
Knitted in two strands of soft and airy alpaca from , with wide 3/4 sleeves and an elegant, sculptural silhouette… this one is made for moments ✨

ᵇʳᵃⁿᵈᵉᵈ ᶜᵒⁿᵗᵉⁿᵗ 💓My baby sister doing her model thing in her ‘Mohair Crush Sweater’ 💓
This sweater has quietly become my go-to for everything - Soft and cozy for everyday with jeans and a tee underneath… and then it just slips into party mode with dressy pants and a little sparkle.
Casual → chic in 0.2 seconds.
Originally, the design wasn’t even meant to be a whole big deal - just a comfy-but-kinda-fancy solution for the upcoming Christmas get-togethers. But somewhere along the way it claimed its title as all-time favorite sweater ✨

‘Mohair Crush Sweater’ facts:
• Lightweight & airy with a to-die-for neckline
• Knit top-down in 6 strands of mohair held together
• Oversized fit with wide, floaty sleeves
• Beginner-friendly & fairly quick knit
• Made for serious color play - no rules, just vibes

Comes in 5 sizes - my not so little, little sis (6 feet tall!) is wearing size D here.

Spring layering - at last 🌿
‘Vestedisse Light’ is an oldie but goodie - the perfect little hybrid between a cowl and a vest. Knitted in two strands of soft alpaca in a stretchy 2×2 rib. It gives you that cozy, flexible layer that slips effortlessly under a jacket on chilly days - and works just as well on its own as a minimal vest.
But let’s talk details people…….because that’s where the magic happens ✨ ‘Vestedisse Light’ closes at the sides with leather snaps. The ones shown here are the removable ‘Snaps Mini’ for a snug fit, but you can also choose the slightly longer ‘Leather Snaps’ or go for sew-in leather snaps, depending on the look and feel you prefer.
Because the beauty really is in the details.
Find the pattern and selection of snaps at www.striksakken.com (and on Ravelry) Pattern is as always complimentary with the purchase of snaps. It’s available in 3 flexible sizes - I’m wearing size B ✌🏻

Knitted in Hjerte Alpaca from

Side note 🤍 ‘Vestedisse Light’ was first published in 2022 and has recently been updated. If you bought it earlier and didn’t receive the update, just throw me an e-mail and I’ll make sure you get it.

ᵇʳᵃⁿᵈᵉᵈ ᶜᵒⁿᵗᵉⁿᵗ ❄️ ➡️ 🌱Spring did that sneaky thing again. One day it’s full Arctic cosplay, the next it’s above freezing and the snow is gone - like winter quietly packed up overnight.
This reel was captured last weekend, back when winter still had a grip on us - and my baby sister was politely but firmly asked to pose in the frosty air wearing her green ‘Sashi Vest’ like an absolute trooper 💚(Helps that she’s a professional model. Still pretty cold, though.)

‘Sashi Vest’ is the ultimate seasonal shapeshifter. All winter I’ve worn it sandwiched between shirt and coat. But now? I’m ready to let it live its best life as an outer layer, sashiko-inspired stitches fully on display when I’m out and about.

Worked top-down in garter stitch and knitted in a combo of brushed wool and soft alpaca from 🧶Available in 5 adult sizes - plus ‘Sashi Vest Junior’ for smaller (but equally stylish) humans.
Winter may be on its way out, but this vest? She’s staying firmly in rotation.

💙 MOHAIR CRUSH SWEATER PATTERN DROP 💙
This sweater was not supposed to be a whole big deal - not even a pattern. I just needed something comfy-but-kinda-fancy for the Christmas parties. Something I could snuggle into and feel cute in. Mohair = instant elegance, so I added sleeves to my Mohair Crush (slipover)… and boom. Favorite sweater born✨
It knits up fast on large needles (hello instant gratification!) so I made one in red tones and one in blue tones to survive the many Christmas gatherings that come with having 3 kids in grade school 🫠 And honestly? I’m pretty sure it slides seamlessly into spring in yellow tones… stay tuned 🌼

Valentine’s Day, winter break edition 💘❄️
The break is coming to an end, and it has been pretty darn magical - Snowy days, crackling fireplaces, rosy skating cheeks, industrial amounts of hot chocolate, and time with the three deepest loves of my life 💗💗💗 (who also happen to be excellent sweater models).

We’re wrapped in our Valentine-friendly Mohair Crush Sweaters, knit in ‘Kid Silk Mohair’ from Hjertegarn . Light as air yet outrageously cozy with their wide airy sleeves, sculptural saddle shoulders, and crisp i-cord edges. Knit top-down on big needles with six strands held together, made for unapologetic color play - ombré moments, bold solid mixes, or joyful chaos.
Ours? Very red. Very Valentine 💋

The pattern drops Monday - it just needs the final finishing touches once the girls are back in school and I regain full use of my brain. Until then, head over to www.striksakken.com for other quirky knitting patterns and fun notions 🧶

Happy Valentines to all my fellow knitters - may your gauge be spot-on, your skeins be plentiful, and your projects never turn into UFOs ♥️

🧶 “Missing person report: Me - last seen a week ago, vanished into a brushed-wool-and-soft-alpaca-fueled trance. Found today by the ocean, wearing… this.” 🌊
The past week? One long, cozy rabbit hole. I haven’t been able to do anything but work on this vest by the fireplace - haven’t answered texts, calls, emails, or possibly my own children 😅. I was in that rare, hypnotic flow where the world disappears and only yarn and needles exists.

I used to play around with my everyday outfits, but somewhere along the line I landed in my adult parent uniform: barrel-leg pants and a collared shirt (on rotation, obviously). So this vest? My glow-up piece. Warm, structured, and just the right amount of cute to layer over my “I-have-it-together” shirts.
The decorative stitches are inspired by Japanese Sashiko - simple, meditative, and ridiculously satisfying 🪡
