New Tea Arrivals|By now, the harvest season for Japanese spring tea – April and May – already feels like a long time ago.
However, new teas from this year's spring harvests continue to steadily arrive from farmers across Japan.
Here at io, this keeps us busy sampling new arrivals, and it is a great joy to be able to share many of them with you.
Meanwhile, we have also lately been quietly releasing a handful of other teas from earlier vintages; our rare post-fermented stem tea, Kamikatsu Awabōcha, and the unusually lightly oxidized Tsukigase Kōcha 'Greenish' are two unique examples of these.
We invite you to visit our website to explore more of our newest teas.

Yamazoe Sencha | 2026
This year’s sencha from Mr and Mrs Kayash*ta offers once again a harmonious and wonderfully fragrant spring tea – carefully cultivated by natural farming methods in the mountains surrounding Yamazoe village, Nara.
Kamikatsu Awabōcha | 2025
A rare lacto-fermented tea created from the large stems (‘bō’) that are carefully sorted out during the production process of Awabancha, one of Japan's traditional post-fermented teas from the island of Shikoku.
Tsukigase Sencha-hōji | 2023
Aged sencha from old zairai tea trees, gently wilted (ichō) after harvest and finished by a light roasting step – resulting in a extraordinarily fragrant semi-oxidized Japanese tea quite unlike any other.
Tsukigase Kōcha 'Greenish' | 2025
Whole-leaf wakōcha black tea which is only very lightly oxidised, highlighting the bright and pure aromas of the spring-harvested Yabukita leaf as it slowly begins to wilt – a profound fragrance also known in Japanese as ichōka.
