🍄 How to Grow Agaricus (White Button) Mushrooms at Home! 🌱
Want to grow your own fresh, delicious mushrooms? Here’s a simple step-by-step guide! 👇
🍄 What You Need:
• Prepared mushroom compost/substrate
• Agaricus mushroom spawn (grain spawn)
• Casing soil (peat-based, with suitable pH)
• Growing trays or beds
• Clean water
• A humid, well-ventilated growing space
🌱 The Basic Process:
1️⃣ Prepare the substrate
Use well-composted straw/manure-based substrate. It should be moist but not soggy.
2️⃣ Pasteurize
Pasteurize the substrate at around 60–70°C (140–158°F) for 6–8 hours, then allow it to cool to about 20–25°C (68–77°F).
3️⃣ Add the spawn
Mix the Agaricus grain spawn evenly throughout the cooled substrate.
4️⃣ Fill the growing beds
Place the substrate into trays or beds, then level the surface.
5️⃣ Incubate
Keep the beds warm and humid for approximately 10–14 days, allowing the mycelium to colonize the substrate.
6️⃣ Add the casing layer
Apply a 2–4 cm casing layer and allow it to settle.
7️⃣ Trigger fruiting
Lower the temperature to around 16–20°C (61–68°F), maintain high humidity, and provide fresh air.
8️⃣ Watch them grow!
Small mushrooms can begin appearing within about 7–14 days after fruiting conditions are established. 🍄
9️⃣ Harvest
Pick mushrooms when the caps are still closed and firm. Twist gently or cut at the base.
🔟 Enjoy multiple flushes!
With proper conditions, you can harvest several flushes over the following weeks.
💡 Key conditions:
🌡️ Temperature: 16–20°C (61–68°F) during fruiting
💧 Humidity: 85–95%
🌬️ Good ventilation
☀️ Indirect light is sufficient

🍄 Did you know you can clone a fresh Reishi mushroom at home?

You don’t need a fancy lab to start experimenting with mushroom cultivation. In this 3-part series, I’m showing how a small piece of fresh Reishi tissue can be transferred onto clean, moist cardboard and encouraged to produce new mycelium.

🌱 The basic idea:
1️⃣ Start with a fresh, healthy Reishi mushroom
2️⃣ Take a clean piece from the inner tissue
3️⃣ Place it between prepared cardboard
4️⃣ Keep it clean and monitor the mycelium as it spreads

The coolest part? Watching that first white mycelium appear from a tiny piece of mushroom. 🤯🍄

Want to grow your own "Mushroom of Immortality" at home?
Here’s your step-by-step visual guide to cultivating Reishi mushrooms (Ganoderma lucidum) from start to harvest! 👇
Reishi has been cherished for centuries for its immune-supporting, stress-relieving, and wellness benefits. While it looks exotic, growing it in your own home setup is totally doable with the right process:
1️⃣ Prepare Substrate: Mix hardwood sawdust, bran, and water into growth bags.
2️⃣ Sterilize & Inoculate: Pressure cook the bags and inoculate with clean grain spawn.
3️⃣ Incubate: Keep it in a warm space (70°F – 75°F) until the mycelium colonizes.
4️⃣ Start Fruiting: Introduce indirect sunlight (12 hrs/day) and high humidity.
5️⃣ Harvest: Pick when the distinct reddish-brown conks fully mature.
6️⃣ Dry & Store: Slice and dehydrate to make your own fresh herbal teas or tinctures! ☕✨
💡 Pro Tip: Patience is key with Reishi! They grow slower than oyster mushrooms, but harvesting your own medicinal mushrooms is 100% worth the wait.
