Maintaining the temperature of a variety of products within the cold-chain, from the producer to the end customer, is crucial for maintaining both quality and safety.
Dry ice temperature is about -79 ºC and is made by expanding liquid CO2 into the snow form of the solid state. The snow is then compressed by a hydraulic press into dry ice blocks or slices. One kilogram of dry ice generates about 500 liters of carbon dioxide gas.
Given the low temperature, dry ice is perfect to achieve the required temperature during transportation, storing blood, tissues, bio-samples and similar, and not least for freezing and cooling of food and keeping it fresh.
