I grew up on Persian carpets.

While the adults talked, my cousins and I played for hours on vast, colorful worlds woven in Kerman, close to my parents’ hometown of Rafsanjan - gardens of pink, saffron and emerald beneath our feet.

I didn’t know it then, but those carpets were shaping me. Teaching me about color. About craft. About how something handmade can hold memory and meaning.

They were my first design school.

Mystic Threads is my way of returning to that little girl, and honoring where I come from.

A collection rooted in heritage, storytelling, and bold self-expression. Made slowly. Made intentionally. Made to last.

The world has felt heavy for the past three years — and if we’re honest, it doesn’t seem to be getting any lighter.

So we decided to do what any sensible team would do: introduce a new member.

This is Simba, our Chief of Serotonin.
He specialises in grounding energy, forced screen breaks, emotional regulation, and reminding us that joy still exists - usually in the form of naps, snacks, and unconditional love.

Highly qualified. Questionable work hours.
Indispensable nonetheless.

I am Iranian. I am a creative director. But before all of that, I am human.

I have been frozen by grief. Even now, I remain in its stillness. Some pain arrives without words, settles in the body, and asks us to pause. But there comes a moment when silence itself becomes a weight - when speaking is no longer a choice, but a duty.

At 1001 Stories Shoes, we believe creativity can only exist where there is freedom. Beauty cannot grow where voices are suppressed. Our hearts are with the people of Iran, and with the women who continue to stand…brave, unyielding and awake.

We stand with the oppressed.
We stand with those who ask for nothing more than the right to live freely, safely and with dignity.

What is unfolding in Iran is more than a national moment. It is a human reckoning. May it be the beginning of a freer world - one where fear loosens its grip, where peace is possible, and where liberation is not a dream, but a lived truth.

This is not solidarity for visibility.
This is solidarity born from grief, hope and our shared humanity.

Until freedom is no longer a dream, but a lived reality.
