And so the story followed the water until it found the land.

As the shadows settled, the travellers fled into hills of green and found the palms waiting with their gifts. Beneath their leaves, they rested from the sun.

Above them, the birds carried melodies through the air, and around them, the earth began to offer all that was needed.

So the wanderers became settlers.

And the land became home.

As the night grew quiet and the waters ran cold and dark, there came a longing for light. And when the sun finally rose, it brought its gift in shades of amber, pouring warmth across the water and waking the world beneath it.

For those who travelled the Nile, the river was more than a passage. It was a guide, carrying them toward what lay beyond the horizon, toward somewhere they could settle, grow, and call their own.

And so the story followed the water, until it found the land.

Eventually, someone decided to stay.

They gathered what the land had given them. Wood from the palms. Water from the river. Stone from the earth. And piece by piece, they built a place to call their own.

The story had found a home.

By nightfall, the land kept its secrets.

The doves returned to their nests, the fish slipped beneath the water, and the moon rose quietly above them all.

They say she was there for anyone who had lost their way.

They say the land was never empty.

When the sun rose, it woke what had been waiting. The palms gave wood, the river gave water, the earth gave its harvest, and every passerby took a little of its generosity with them.

Some stories are carried by the people who leave. Others are left behind, waiting to be found.

كان يا مكان

There was once a story,
and before the story, there was the land.

From the land came the fruit,
from the fruit came the feast,
from the feast came the stories.

They were painted onto walls, sung into the night, carried in the hands of those who came before us and kept alive in the memories of those who came after.

Some stories disappear with time.
Others find a new way to be told.

So we gathered what was left in the colours, the shapes, the symbols and the hands that remembered, and told it again.
