Mount Sinai Permaculture is an ambitious project established - in April 2021 - in the heart of the mountains of St. An area widely renown for its wilderness, beauty, serenity & spirituality. It is home to many different kinds of plants, herbs and wild fruit trees. There is even a

list of almost 20 kinds of endemic wild herbs. The project is based on an old abandoned farm that is still hosting a variety of mature fruit trees and some wild herbs. We are aiming to transfer the landscape of the farm by applying permaculture principles and creating food forests and increasing the biodiversity in and around the farm. There is a potential to harvest rainwater, propagate native and wild plants, bring in livestock, improving soil conditions and maximizing the yield the farm can produce. We are keen to be vocal on what we are doing. We want to engage as many people as possible in the planning and the activities run out by the farm. We want to reach out for the local bedouin community as well as for agri-tourists and mountain lovers who want to do something useful and entertaining. We want to be a role model when it comes to issues of sustainability and regenerative agriculture in Sinai. Come visit us and let’s build something together. Have you planted a tree this year??

🌿 **سر من أسرار وادي طابا وجبال سانت كاترين: نبات الجَعْدَة (Teucrium polium)** 🌿

من قلب سيناء الأبية، ومن بين صخور جبال سانت كاترين الشاهقة حيث تتجلى الطبيعة في أبهى صورها الصعبة والنقية، ينمو نبات "الجعدة" كواحد من أهم الكنوز الطبية التي وهبها الله لأهل هذه الأرض المباركة.

عاش المجتمع البدوي في سيناء لقرون يعتمد على ما تجود به الطبيعة، وكانت "الجعدة" (أو كما يُطلق عليها أحياناً "مسك الجن") رفيقة الدرب في الصيدلية البدوية التقليدية.

خواص النبات ومميزاته:

تتميز الجعدة برائحتها العطرية النفاذة والقوية، وأوراقها الصغيرة المغطاة بشعيرات دقيقة تمنحها لوناً فضياً مخضراً، وهي شجيرة معمرة تتحدى الجفاف والبرد القارس في أعالي جبال كاترين، ما يجعل تركيز الزيوت الطيارة والمركبات الفعالة فيها عالياً جداً.

فوائد واستخدامات الجعدة في الطب البدوي:

استخدم أهالي سيناء هذا النبات السحري لعلاج الكثير من العوارض الصحية، ومن أبرز استخداماتها:

صديق الجهاز الهضمي: تُعتبر الجعدة المغلية الخيار الأول في بيوت البدو لعلاج مغص المعدة الشديد، طرد الغازات، وتطهير الأمعاء.

خافض طبيعي للحرارة ومقاوم للبرد: تُشرب دافئة للمساعدة في علاج نزلات البرد والأنفلونزا وتخفيف الحمى.

تنظيم السكر: شاع استخدامها في الثقافة المحلية كعامل مساعد لضبط مستويات السكر في الدم.

مضاد طبيعي للالتهابات: تُستخدم أوراقها أحياناً كمصنع طبيعي لتعقيم الجروح البسيطة وتهدئة التهابات الجلد.

طريقة الاستخدام والوعي البدوي:

البدو هم أكثر من يعلمون قوة هذه العشبة؛ فنظراً لمرارتها الشديدة وقوة مفعولها، يتم استخدامها بكميات قليلة جداً وبحذر (غالبًا غلي بضع أوراق فقط في الماء)،
وتجنب استخدامها لفترات طويلة لحماية الكبد.

تبقى نباتات سانت كاترين الطبية شاهدة على حكمة وريادة المجتمع البدوي في التعامل مع الطبيعة واستخلاص الشفاء من قسوة الصخور.
