Because today, they don’t just counterfeit brands.

They counterfeit history.

A new T-shirt can be washed, faded and distressed.
An old-looking label can be reproduced.
A modern reprint can be sold as a 1990s original.
A reproduction can magically become “rare vintage” in the description.

And suddenly €20 becomes €200.

Levi’s itself warns that fake vintage Levi’s exist.

Vintage band tees are another minefield: Nirvana, Metallica, Pink Floyd, Iron Maiden and other collectible music shirts are extensively reproduced, with modern copies made to imitate old fabric, stitching, prints and tags.

Stone Island? Authentication by Certilogo only starts with Spring/Summer 2014. Older pieces require actual knowledge of labels, construction and production periods.

Ralph Lauren openly acknowledges the counterfeit market and does not authenticate products bought from third parties.

So no:

A faded T-shirt is not automatically vintage.
A cracked print is not proof of age.
A “Made in USA” tag is not proof by itself.
A famous logo is definitely not proof.

Real vintage has to make sense.

Label.
Stitching.
Fabric.
Hardware.
Manufacturing country.
Brand history.
Construction.
Production period.

They must tell the same story.

And if you knowingly sell a modern reproduction as an original vintage piece, you are not selling vintage.

You are selling a lie with wrinkles.
