A huge ThankYou to Grace Black and the Langtoun Jazz team for welcoming John Burgess and myself to your excellent enterprise; for your superb organisation; and effecting a suave, enjoyable and relaxed setting, ideal to maximise our performance. Much obliged, too, to the wonderfully receptive & knowledgeable audience!

A real pleasure and privilege, as always, to play alongside the great John Burgess. Check out his Saturday solos here:-

A TRIBIUTE to DAMON SAWYER: 1971 – 2024.
This post is released in consultation with Damon’s family.
---
This Saturday, 5th September, I play my first gig since May 2024.
Damon drummed on that gig & tour… with The Daniel Smith Blues Band (pictured).

We (the band) and audiences, alike, were all truly enthralled by Damon’s drumming & enchanted by his loveable character.
I had known Damon from the 1990s, having performed and recorded with him from way back then. Plans, to now tour into 2025 and beyond, were terribly sadly cut short by the sudden loss of Damon to illness, December 2024.

Damon’s wonderful family approved these following words of mine, being read as part of the eulogy at his funeral:
“My next gig won’t be WITH Damon… but it will be FOR Damon.”

That moment has now finally arrived.

I therefore dedicate Saturday’s forthcoming performance to drummer extraordinaire and exceptional sound-engineer… our dear firm friend : Damon Sawyer.
His unforgettable rhythms and vibrant beat live on...
