💜🧡🤍💙 There are some friends that you find because somehow, you were always meant to🤍🧵🧡

I met Melodie years ago through sewing. She had recently started her sewing pattern business, and I completely adored her work.

🩵🧡💜 We started chatting, I made some of her patterns, we video-called, sewed together online… and eventually I invited her to Cambridge to join me and some friends for The Stitch Festival | London Contemporary Crafts Show in London 🧡

Little did I know, that was only the beginning of a very special friendship 🥰

She came back to Cambridge again and last autumn I finally met her fiancé (now husband!) and visited where she lived 🧡💜🩵She came back to Cambridge once more and we went to a musical, had a proper girly day in London and made memories that had nothing to do with fabric or patterns 🧡

And then there was this fabric! 💜🧡🤍💙
💝 After a trip to Paris with her mum, Melodie brought me back a piece she had found in Montmartre. The moment I saw it, I thought it was one of the most beautiful, joyful fabrics I had ever seen. So, naturally, I had to turn it into something ✨

I made one of Melodie’s patterns with it and wore the dress to meet friends while I was in Spain. Their eyes immediately went to the fabric and I completely understood why.

Not every handmade garment comes with a story. But this one does. 💙🧡🤍💜 It’s a story about sewing, friendship, Paris, Anecy, Cambridge, London, Spain, countless conversations and a beautiful little piece of fabric that travelled from Montmartre into a dress I’ll treasure ✨

🪡Some clothes are handmade. 💜🧵Some are handmade with love. And some carry a whole friendship in every stitch 🧡👯‍♀️

Some stories begin long before we realise it 💫💙

There is something I may have never told you before: my story with sewing also began in Guadix, my hometown.

It was one summer, when my grandmother taught me how to do cross-stitch. I was little, and I probably had no idea that such a simple thing would stay with me for the rest of my life 🪡🩵

Perhaps that is why this newspaper photograph makes me smile so much. In it, I’m standing next to one of my aunts because we both had “Luparia” as part of our name, and we were described as “the only ones in the world” to have it.

I have always carried the name Luparia with so much pride, showing it on my ID or passport almost like a little piece of proof of a very special family story 🥰

But there is another detail in that photograph that means even more to me 😍➡️ The dress I’m wearing was made by my grandmother for me. She made it by hand, using a piece of fabric she had at home. Long before I knew that sewing would become such an important part of my life, she was already making something for me 💝 And now, all these years later, I’m the one sewing 💝

💟 Sometimes I think perhaps my sewing story didn’t begin that summer when I learned my first stitches. Perhaps it began much earlier, in my grandmother’s hands, on a summer in Guadix, with a piece of fabric she had at home and in all those little things we do out of love without knowing how much they will one day mean to us 💙

Today, I continue to sew my own stories and without even realising it, I’m still sewing with a little piece of her 🪡🤍🪽

Because some things aren’t simply inherited. They are learned, transformed, and sewn into something new 💙🤍🩶💙

💙 LUPARIA 💙

There was a time when I believed I had to leave this place to truly find myself 🤍🩵💙

For years, Guadix didn’t always feel like a safe haven. Sometimes our roots weigh heavier than they hold us.

But time has a curious way of teaching us that coming back doesn’t always mean returning to the same place. It means returning as someone different.

Today, I walk these streets wearing a dress I made with my own hands. A dress inspired by the deep blue patterns of Guadix’s traditional ceramics, by a beauty that had always been here, even when I couldn’t see it.

My name here on Instagram is Luparia Sewing because Luparia has always been much more than a story to me. Luparia represents strength, heritage and a land to which my family has always felt deeply connected.

Perhaps, without even realising it, I chose that handle name because I hoped that one day I would stitch together my own story too.

And I did, with thread 🪡

Every stitch has taught me something I once searched for elsewhere: that strength isn’t found in leaving but in returning without asking permission to take your place.

This dress is about Guadix. But above all, it’s about ME.

And perhaps the next one will be about Cambridge 🩵

Because our roots aren’t just the places we come from. They are the stories, lessons and threads we collect along the way, becoming part of who we are 💙🩵🤍

🩵🦓 I fell in love with this fabric 🩵🦓

The way it shines, the way it says wild.

I just had to turn it into a top, and it was perfect for a lovely evening out 🌇

Now the real question... Do you prefer it worn loose, or with the front tucked into the trousers?

Such different vibes, right? 🩵🦓

I’m not sure I can choose! 💛
