Introducing Mame Kurogouchi at Experience 27.
Founded by Japanese designer Maiko Kurogouchi, Mame creates deeply personal collections shaped by memory, nature and Japan’s extraordinary traditions of textile craftsmanship.
For Fall Winter 2026, Maiko began with a memory of watching the shadows of plants move quietly beyond shoji screens—and a desire to somehow capture that fleeting landscape within cloth.
The resulting fabric was created in Kyoto by layering delicate washi paper over thin cloth through a succession of hand processes rooted in the culture of yuzen dyeing. Passed between factories and artisans, fixed with heat and slowly washed in well water, the excess paper disappears until only Maiko’s botanical drawings remain.
