I get asked alot in my DMs, what do you do for work? 🇪🇸

I believe like many things to “move forward” in life you need a bit of good luck on your side, ALOT of hard work which often also means playing the long game, and sometimes simply being in the right place at the right time too, but then also having courage to explore what is possible and ask for what you want!! 🧨

🧡 I had an exsisting remote career

🧡 I met the new love of my life after a traumatic turn in life events

🧡 I started to research the digital nomad visa

🧡 I asked my employer - pitching how I could unlock more for them in Spain and showing up as me, Heidi…. ❤️‍🩹❤️🥰

And eventually I moved 🤩

Now I’m here, pregnant with our baby, learning Spanish each week, building a whole new life 🫶 I still have absolutely no idea what the next 5 years could look like

But that’s ok - It’s about putting one foot in front of the other today and the rest will come tomorrow 😘

I’m excited for what you try to go after - starting a business, keeping your UK career, it’s all possible 🧡

Don’t write it off just yet 🥹🫶

I Love Revolut - Just my personal experience (not an ad) having moved from the UK to Spain last year 🇬🇧 to 🇪🇸 I really felt like opening a “traditional” bank account was a high priority and actually in hindsight, it’s probably just worth waiting a few months till you’ve had your Visa accepted & received your TIE Residency card and opening one then - Both a traditional bank and challenger bank.

Personally, I absolutely LOVE my which I could open as soon as I got my residency card (approx 3 months after being in Spain) and tbh whoever works in their perks team deserves a pay rise because the perks are totally unmatched 😍

For €15 euro a month on Metal I get things like,
0 fee transfers even on weekends
Monthly desk pass for remote working
Monthly credits
(which work in both UK and Spain)
Go subscription
subscriptions

And so so much more!!

So yes, in summary - I would consider how much of a priority it is to open a traditional bank account in your first few months in Spain, ofcourse it’s great to have traditional bank too but I can count on one finger the amount of times I’ve actually used it over the last year ☺️

Personally travelling between the UK and Spain, Revolut allows me to manage my money easily in multiple currencies and for that reason alone, they win hands down 🙌

What else have I got to come? 🤣 Jokes aside, I do sometimes struggle with the voice in my head that’s been saying “You should be doing more”. - More exercise (July/August at 36 degrees was a write off in itself), more work… more this or that…. but I’m trying to remember, I am doing more ❤️ I’m growing a person 🫶

I’m trying to trust my own pace, even when it feels like the world around me is running at a much quicker one 🥹🫶

Today pilates was a God send 🙏 the pace was perfect, the instructor adjusted some movements for me, congratulated me on pregnancy (hearing it from strangers is so lovely) and it’s made me want to always compliment a stranger on their visible bump moving forward 🎈🎉

Take the week at a pace that works for you 😘

Can I still do content creation in here whilst the baby naps or am I totally naive? 🤣😂🤐 Lol plans ⬇️

Who else plans to keep a multi functional room? Half these wardrobes remain mine 😂

Desk will go, and I don’t want to see it for 9 months 🤣😂

Bed…. we are moving this King bed into our room (Currently a double) as my pregnancy pillow is already taking up more space! Do we keep an adult bed in here too, though? We also have 2 bedroom downstairs but this one is next to our room which is why it’s the nursery 💓

Need to sell the dresser, and get everything ready! 😍🥰🫶 Whimsical Wallpaper the lot 🫶🫶

……We moved last year into this house but sometimes it only feels like 5 minutes ago 😂

Actions to take if you’re considering a move to Spain in 2027!

20/08/2026

You can be so excited for the change, yet scared for how it will pan out!

Grieving the career that came before the baby… I intend to take 9 months off if I can afford to, and I’ll likely be returning to a very different situation, if not a complete re-pivot of my career… I don’t want to be that high achiever anymore with constant pressure on their shoulders, I want balance, I want to pay my mortgage and bills and live a content life. It’s no longer about the years prior chasing “more, more” - when you have new priorities that light up your world. It’s impossible for the 2 to co-exist.

Deciding what “good enough” looks like for me postpartum, not being harsh on how my body looks, not being harsh on how my day hasn’t been productive as pre-pregnancy, it will take time to get back

Realising that at some stage, I probably will resent my husband for the unequal load
Even with a “great” partner… much of the mental load has a way of settling on the person who carried the baby. I know I’ll be the one who realises we’re soon out of nappies, who suffers more exhaustion in the newborn haze... or when I’m playing nursery rhymes he’s engaging with adult conversations back at work.

Sadness that my family isn’t near by
Living in Spain is beautiful, and one factor we moved is to be closer to my husbands parents, but that doesn’t mean I’ll miss my own… It just means its an excuse to jump on flights to see each other, and the presence is often more appreciated

One of the things I miss about the UK is how much choice we have around value based homeware retailers like a I guess I’m still learning in Spain, ive not been living there long but where can I buy a €400 cot bed? Dónde puedo comprar una cuna de 400 euros?

One of my favourite “adult” furniture retailers in Spain 🇪🇸 is .welovedesign (I believe they are in the UK now too?) The furniture is good prices, trendy, quality) but they don’t sell baby cot beds 😂

I don’t mind I’m just after something a little tier up from Ikea without spending a fortune 🤣

The UK has a big car boot sale culture (for those not familiar you turn up early on Sunday morning in a big field in the UK open up the boot of your car to sell all your old things 😂 or go for the bargains to be had!!) that doesn’t really exsist in Spain, and generally I find too the second hand market is way bigger in the UK - I assume culturally it’s just different ❤️

Second hand market exists in Spain - it’s Definetly getting bigger with platforms like but I’d say the UK 🇬🇧 is way more normalised to buy second hand

I actually think there is huge business opportunity in Spain for more second hand businesses ❤️😂 and the cot bed that I’m in the market for 🤣

PS I love life in Spain, I love so much of the culture I’m just sharing my observations after a year 🥰🩷 please be kind x
