A veces, las cosas más grandes ocurren por pura casualidad. En 1988, George Harrison necesitaba grabar urgentemente una canción simple para la "Cara B" de un sencillo europeo. Como no tenía estudio reservado, llamó a su amigo Bob Dylan para preguntar si podía usar su garaje en Malibú.

El destino quiso que ese día Jeff Lynne (de ELO) y el legendario Roy Orbison estuvieran libres y se unieran a la sesión. Tom Petty también apareció por ahí.

Lo que iba a ser una simple canción de relleno ("Handle With Care") resultó ser una joya. La discográfica se negó a "desperdiciarla" en una Cara B y George dijo: "Bueno, entonces hagamos un álbum entero". Así, sin contratos ni planes, nació The Traveling Wilburys, el supergrupo más grande, espontáneo y accidental de la historia del rock.
