From Brazilian favelas to the streets of Kingston. From Beirut chaos to Naples noir, New York soul and Buenos Aires psychedelia.
“Ghetto” means different things depending on where you are in the world. In some places it means poverty, in others resistance, survival, crime, overcrowded neighbourhoods or forgotten communities. But across continents, music has always transformed everyday struggle into rhythm, poetry and collective memory.
GHETTO SOUNDS is a journey through urban life across different countries, cultures and musical languages. Jazz-funk, Brazilian grooves, roots reggae, Arabic funk, psychedelic blues and salsa dura become different ways of telling similar stories: stories about survival, love, danger, humour, resistance and human dignity.
