Named is a Finnish clothing pattern label founded by sisters Saara and Laura Huhta. Named garments are a combination of Scandinavian clean-lined simplicity and interesting details. The aim of the collections is to bring a new perspective to making one's own clothes and to support ethical and ecological consuming in contrast to a clothing industry focused on fast fashion. Self-made clothing also al

lows for freedom of choice; by choosing one's colors and materials and by changing garment details, the customer can be part of the design process. If dressing is a way to express oneself then self-made clothes are self-expression at its best. Named is much more than handicrafts but it is also more than a fashion label among others - it is learning, love for creation and joy of accomplishment! Named launches two main collections a year along with themed collections throughout the year. Named patterns have five levels of difficulty, which means that anyone from a beginner to a more experienced sewer can find patterns suited to their skill level.

"This pattern gave me that wonderful, childlike excitement from the very first stitch, and somehow the feeling only grew stronger as I kept sewing, even though I had to make a few adjustments to improve the fit. And I'll be tweaking it just a little more for the next one (yep, you read that right, I’m definitely making another! 😍). What an absolutely amazing pattern!!!⁠

The fabric was one of those must have's the moment I saw it. And it’s unbelievably soft to wear. 💙⁠

Marja's Aulio pants are super cute and elegant in this floral print! 😍 In her original post, regrets that our patterns are no longer available in Finnish for beginner sewists. We did indeed discontinue our Finnish-language patterns years ago and have focused solely on English-language patterns with detailed illustrations. Does it bother you when patterns aren’t available in your native language?⁠

"These are a super easy make and even though the instructions are in English, the illustrations by Named are so excellent that I think one could effortlessly follow even without knowing much sewing terminology in English. I have added the pockets myself, so the original pattern is really as easy as sewing a pair of trousers can get.⁠

So the pattern is Aulio in size XS, legs cut 7 cm shorter. ’Vuokkojen syysvalssi’ linen by . My first thought before hemming was that I’ve made an expensive pair of pyjama pants, but turns out I was wrong."⁠
