Rubylea syntyi vuonna 2016 Eini Immosen intohimosta luoda naisellisia ja näyttäviä asusteita, jotka saavat kantajansa huokumaan itsevarmuutta. Tämän hetkinen tuoteperhe koostuu pääasiassa näytävistä turbaaneista sekä muista menneiden vuosikymmenten inspiroimista päähineistä ja asusteista. Kaikki tuotteet valmistetaan käsityönä Helsingissä, Aleksis Kiven katu 38:ssa, josta löytyy myös pieni valikoima tuotteita valmiina. Tervetuloa kurkkaamaan kulisseihin!

Rubylea was born in 2016 from the passion of Eini Immonen to create feminine and spectacular accessories, that makes their wearer glow with confidence. At the moment, the ready-to-wear collection consists mainly glamorous turbans and other vintage inspired headwear, but I also make items according to you wishes. Customizing a cap from my collection is a great way to get a unique piece of headwear! I don’t do these very often, but every now and then customers get excited about bringing in their own fabrics, and I get to create special hats for them—like this one. 💜 Thanks for this project!

🇫🇮/🇬🇧 (next slide) Tällä viikolla tuli kuluneeks 2-vuotta siitä kun suljin Enskalandian eli oman hattukauppani ovet ja muutin Tekstiililiike Selma Palmu :n tiloihin ja samalla ruveten luotsaamaan tätä legendaarista lyhyttavaraliikettä uuteen aikakauteen.

Välillä on päiviä kun mietin omaa liikettä haikeudella, vaikka onhan Selmakin miun oma, m***a silti koen, että se on ensisijaisesti kuitenkin Selman ja hänen tyttärensä Railin. Onneks Selman ja Rubylean symbioosi on toiminut hienosti ja paikka näyttää, sekä tuntuu meidän kolmen leidin yhteiselle huushollille. 🩷

Miun valmistamien hattujen lisäksi liikkeeltä löytyy mm. vintage ja second hand- aarteita, suomalaisten pienyrittäjien tuotteita, kuten koruja, palasaippuaa, tarroja ja magneetteja, sekä käsityötarvikkeita ja alus- ja yöasuja.

🇬🇧 This week marks two years since I closed the doors of Enskalandia—my own hat shop—and moved into the premises of Tekstiililiike Selma Palmu, taking the helm of this legendary haberdashery to steer it into a new era.

There are days when I look back on my own shop with a touch of nostalgia; although Selma is mine now too, I still feel it belongs primarily to Selma and her daughter Raili. Fortunately, the symbiosis between Selma and Rubylea has worked beautifully, and the place looks and feels like a shared home for the three of us ladies. 🩷

In addition to the hats I make, the shop offers vintage and second-hand treasures, products from small Finnish entrepreneurs—such as jewelry, bar soaps, stickers, and magnets—as well as sewing supplies, lingerie, and sleepwear.

🇫🇮/🇬🇧 Luovuus ja innostus on ollut iteltä kadoksissa tosi pitkään. Osittain se on varmaan johtunu siitä, että työpäivät on täyttyny monenlaisella muulla tekemisellä, enkä oo halunnu pakottaa itteeni tekemään enemmän, koska siinä kärsii paitsi oma mieli, niin myös työnlaatu. Toinen syy on varmasti ollut myös erilaiset sairaudet, jotka vaivaa tekemistä, kuten käsien tulehdukset ja niistä aiheutuvat kivut, sekä uupumus.

M***a nyt oon jo ainakin kuukauden oottanu, että pääsen kaivamaan kangasvarastoja ja onpa ollu ihanaa hypistellä kankaita ja saada se inspiraation tunne mitä siitä syntyy! Tätä oon kaivannu! 💚

Uusia päähineitä on siis pitkästä aikaa syntymässä, m***a teen ne yksitellen, jotta niistä ei tuu ”pakko tehä”- stressiä. Hitaasti tekeminen antaa myös mahdollisuuden tehä muita töitä, kuten teijän hattujen korjauksia ja se antaa enemmän tilaa sille luovuudelle, kokeilulle ja erityisesti omalle mielenterveydelle. 💚

Creativity and enthusiasm have been missing from me for a really long time. Part of it has probably been because my workdays have been filled with a variety of other things, and I haven’t wanted to force myself to do more, because it not only affects my mind but also the quality of my work. Another reason has certainly been various illnesses that make it difficult to work, such as hand infections and the pain they cause, as well as exhaustion.

But now I’ve been waiting for at least a month to get to dig through my fabric stash and it’s been wonderful to go through the fabrics and get that feeling of inspiration that comes from it! This is what I’ve been missing! 💚

So new headwear is coming, but I’m making them one by one so that they don’t cause ”have to do” stress. Working slowly also gives me the opportunity to do other work, such as hat repairs, and it gives more space for that creativity, experimentation and especially my own mental health. 💚

I haven’t been updating any new products to the online store in a long time because of the development of Tekstiililiike Selma Palmu ’s pages and business, but now something unexpected has happened and the online store has, among other things, these 4 unique brim hats!

🇫🇮/🇬🇧 (english below) Oman 18 neliön kodin lattialta muutaman pysähdyksen kautta perinteikkään lyhyttavaraliikkeen omistajaksi.

Jokaisen yrittäjän polku on erilainen, eikä reitti aina oo se suorin tai onnellisin, vaikka somessa usein näytetäänkin vaan niitä hyviä puolia. Yrittäjän täytyy olla paitsi sisukas, niin myös muutautumiskykyinen ja joskus yhdestä omasta haaveesta luopuminen avaa ovia muille mahdollisuuksille, niin kuin itelle kävi lokakuussa 2024, kun suljin oman kivijalkaliikkeeni ja siirryin Tekstiililiike Selma Palmu :n ohjaksiin. Ilman tätä en ois luultavasti enää yrittäjä. En usko, että oisin sitä ainakaan kokopäiväisesti.

Se hetki oli lähes yhtä jännittävä kun ekan oman liikkeen avaaminen, m***a on osoittautunut hyväksi päätökseksi, vaikka haasteiden määrä on hieman kasvanut entisestään.

Oon kuitenkin kiitollinen jokaisesta päivästä kun miulla on työpaikka johon mennä ja jossa saan toteuttaa omia visioitani omalla tavallani.

Hyvää yrittäjänpäivää siullekin yrittäjä! Olkoon päiväsi siun näköinen! 🩷

From the floor of my 18 square meter home to the owner of a traditional haberdashery store through a few stops.

Every entrepreneur’s path is different, and the route is not always the most direct or happiest, even though social media often only shows the good sides. An entrepreneur must not only be tenacious, but also be able to change, and sometimes giving up one of your dreams opens doors to other opportunities, as happened to me in October 2024, when I closed my own brick-and-mortar store and took over the reins of Tekstiililiike Selma Palmu. Without this, I probably wouldn’t be an entrepreneur anymore. I don’t think I would be one full-time, at least.

That moment was almost as scary as opening my first store, but it has turned out to be a good decision, even though the number of challenges has increased slightly.

However, I am grateful for every day that I have a job to go to and where I can realize my own visions in my own way.

Happy Entrepreneur’s Day to all entrepreneurs out there! May your day be the way you want it to be! 🩷

🇫🇮/🇬🇧 (english below) Tässä taas yksi korjausprojekti! Kuvan nahkalätsä oli jääny pidemmäksi ajaksi aurinkoon auton ikkunalle, joka oli aiheuttanut sen, että nahka oli päässyt kuivumaan, kovettumaan, sekä pienentymään kooltaa useita senttejä ja lippakin oli vääntynyt.

Nahka vaati reipasta kostuttamista ja rasvausta, m***a kyllähän siitä käyttöhattu taas tuli ja asiakas oli iloinen kun sai hatun vihdoin käyttöön. Kiitos luottamuksesta! 🫶

Here’s another repair project! The leather cap in the picture had been left in the sun on the car window for a long time, which had caused the leather to dry out, harden, and shrink several centimeters in size, and the visor had also warped.

The leather required a lot of wetting and greasing, but it did become a usable hat again and the customer was happy when they finally got the hat to use. Thank you for the trust! 🫶

🇫🇮/🇬🇧 (english below) Joku tarkkasilmäinen on ehkä saattanut huomata, että mm. korvakorut ja baskerit on kadonneet verkkokaupasta. M***a ei hätää, ne on vain siirretty Tekstiililiike Selma Palmu n verkkokauppaan! 🤩🥳

Ja jos joltain on mennyt ohi, niin tosiaan ostaa päräytin tuossa kaksi vuotta sitten Selma Palmun liiketoiminnan ja viimeiset pari vuotta on mennyt enemmän tai vähemmän sen toiminnan ja brändin rakentamiseen. Alkukesästä saatiin myös Selman verkkokaupan rakennusprojektin päätökseen ja oon nyt pikkuhiljaa lisännyt tuotteita sinne ja siirtänyt muiden merkkien tuotteita pois Rubylean verkkokaupasta, jotta jäljelle jäis vaan miun omat tuotteet.

Molempien merkkien verkkokauppojen kehittäminen ja tuotteiden lisääminen jatkuu, m***a valitettavasti se on hieman hidasta itsekseen työskentelevälle. Jos satut Helsingin suunnilla liikkumaan, niin suosittelen poikkeamaan liikkeellä, sillä valikoima on täällä huomattavasti laajempi kuin verkossa, eikä tällästä miljöötä tai tunnelmaa löydy monestakaan paikasta! ✨

Someone may have noticed that the earrings and berets has disappered from the online store. But don’t worry, they have just been moved to Tekstiililiike Selma Palmu’s online store! 🤩🥳

And in case anyone missed it, I bought Selma Palmu’s business two years ago and the last couple of years have been spent more or less building its operations and the brand. In early summer, we also finished online store building project and I have now slowly added products there, and moved other brands’ products out of the Rubylea’s online store so that only my own products remain.

The development of both brands’ online stores and the addition of products continues, but unfortunately it is a bit slow for someone who works alone. If you are in Helsinki, you should definitely come by, because the selection is significantly wider at the shop than online and this athmosphere is something that you can’t find in many cities! ✨

🇫🇮/🇬🇧 (english below) Farkku on miun yks lempparimatskuista syyshatussa. Se on ajaton ja rento, sekä paranee vaan käytössä! 🍂

Oon tehny muutamia erilaisia lätsiä puuvillafarkkukankaista, joista osan oon käsin värjänny (kaks ekaa hattua) ja yhteen innostuin kokeilemaan maalaamaan ”kulutuksia” (kolmas hattu). Farkkukankaan molemmat puolet tuo esiin myös erilaista kontrastia (5. hattu) ja yks lempijutuista on yhdistää siihen nahkaa (6. hattu).

Jokainen miun tekemä hattu on uniikki, enkä yleensä tee toista samanlaista, ellei joku erikseen pyydä.

Nää yksilöt löytyy liikkeeltä, Neljäs Linja 20, joka on avoinna ti-pe klo 12-18 ja la klo 11-14.

Denim is one of my favorite materials in a fall hat. It’s timeless and casual, and it just gets better with use! 🍂

I’ve made a few different hats out of cotton denim, some of which I’ve hand-dyed (first two hats) and for one hat I was inspired painting ”wear” on (third hat). Both sides of the denim also bring out a different contrast (5th hat) and one of my favorite things is combining it with leather (6th hat).

Every hat I make is unique, and I usually don’t make another one the same unless someone specifically requests it.
