Goodnow Farms Chocolate

Goodnow Farms Chocolate We start with cacao beans and sugar, and perform every step of the chocolate making process in-house Tom & Monica

We first discovered craft chocolate in, of all places, a vintage furniture shop in Los Angeles. The incredible flavors we tasted in those bars completely changed how we thought about chocolate, and started us on our journey to become single origin chocolate makers. We’re often asked “why single origin?” and the answer is simple – much like coffee, different cacao beans have different flavors. By u

sing beans sourced from only one farm or region we’re able to highlight the distinct flavor characteristics of that particular bean. Discovering those flavors is one of the joys of making (and eating!) single origin chocolate. We’ve spent a lot of time on farms in Mexico and Central America searching for the most flavorful beans, and have developed direct relationships with the farmers who grow and harvest them. By dealing directly with farmers we’re able to ensure that they’re fairly compensated for their cacao, and also that the farming practices they’re using are sustainable. All of our bars are made here at our 225 year old farm in Sudbury, Massachusetts. We start with cacao beans and sugar, and perform every step of the chocolate making process in-house, including carefully hand wrapping each bar. We believe that great chocolate is “true to the bean,” in that the flavors apparent in the bar reflect the flavors hidden in the bean. The process of making this happen is extremely time consuming and labor intensive, but we believe the experience of eating our chocolate makes it all worthwhile. We’re very proud of our chocolate and we hope you enjoy eating it as much as we do making it. Please check back frequently as we’ll be adding exciting new origins and flavors on a regular basis!

Back after a two year wait 🍫

This very special dark chocolate is made from ancient Criollo cacao grown by Giff Laube in Nicaragua, who has spent over a decade propagating these trees after discovering them in a remote jungle area and confirming their genetics through USDA testing (tree “Laube 1”).

After nearly ten years of work, these trees produced just one single sack of dried cacao 👉🏻 the only quantity available this year. Last year, there weren’t enough beans to make this bar at all 🥲

We made this small batch and we are the only chocolate maker working with these beans that are naturally white, extremely small, and require precise handling at every stage:

▫️Roast monitored continuously, tasting at one-minute intervals
▫️Conching evaluated hourly, stopping at peak flavor

Tasting notes 👇🏻

🍇 Concord grape
🍓 Juicy strawberry
🍯 Honey
🌰 Cashews

These flavors are intensely expressive 😋 offering a rare glimpse into what cacao may have tasted like hundreds of years ago in Latin America 🇳🇮

One batch only. Get it while it lasts 🍫

🍫 OUR PIURA PERU 70% IS HERE 🍫

Over a thousand years ago, the ancestors of Peru’s Puerta Pulache community carried cacao from the Amazon basin across the Andes and into the dry river valleys of Piura. In this unlikely desert landscape, those trees took root and, over generations, evolved into what we now know as Piura Blanco 🤩 one of the most unique cacao varieties in the world 🌎

Grown and carefully cultivated by the same community today, these beans are the result of centuries of tradition, knowledge, and connection to the land. Their natural diversity 👉🏻 white, lavender, and deep purple beans within each pod 👉🏻 speaks to a rare genetic lineage and a flavor profile unlike any other.

We’ve admired cacao from this region for years, but it wasn’t until working closely with cacao expert Dan O’Doherty and the Puerta Pulache growers (refining harvest, fermentation, and drying) that these beans truly revealed their full potential.

From the first taste, it’s vivid and expressive 😋 bright notes of ripe raspberry and sweet cherry rise immediately, followed by a softer, rounded finish of honeyed pecan that lingers with warmth and balance on the palate 🇵🇪🍫

Trust us 🙏 this is an elegant, fruit-forward dark chocolate experience you won’t want to miss 😉

🍫 Nantucket Fog returns 🍫

There’s a moment in the early morning on Nantucket, before the sun fully rises, when everything goes still. Cool ocean fog rolls in low, softening the landscape. The air is damp and quiet, carrying the scent of salt, beach grass, sun-warmed pine, and wild rose just beginning to bloom.

We created this dark milk chocolate to capture that feeling 😍

Our 65% cacao from Boyacá, Colombia forms a rich, smooth base, layered with organic Earl Grey tea from with its deep black tea notes lifted by bright, floral bergamot. We add organic whole milk for a gentle creaminess and finish with sweet, aromatic Planifolia vanilla.

Each ingredient is carefully balanced to evoke that early morning stillness 👉🏻 soft, floral, citrusy, and deeply comforting 🥰

A taste of New England, at its most quiet and beautiful 😋
