Update 30th August 2026
Dear All
This is our first update on Facebook since we closed the lake in June, although we have kept our customers up to date by email, messenger, whatsapp etc.
The situation we had with the lake ran its course over a 3-4 week period, but the long-range forecast was showing that the heatwave would continue for several more weeks. This prompted us to make the extremely difficult decision to extend the lake closure for the rest of the summer to give the fish as much time as possible to recover.
The temperatures are now dropping and becoming a lot more bearable but the majority of rain continues to bypass us. The region is still classed as drought ‘crisis mode’ and although the water levels in the lake had dropped several inches, they are actually now beginning to recover.
This weekend we invited a few of our local friends to come fishing for a couple of days. The weekend went much better than we could have hoped for and despite a few missed opportunites, they did manage to land 15 carp which was amazing for a 48-hour session and the majority not fishing overnight.
Thank you to Howard, Nigel, Adam, Ather and Wayne for their time, although we’re sure it wasn’t too much of a hardship with a haul that included six 50’s up to 56lb 4oz, and a couple of new PB’s along the way 😊
We are now delighted to confirm that we will reopen on 5th September and look forward to getting back to a bit of normality!
