What breaks can bloom.

A fracture became a stem.
And from that line, a flower began to grow.

The drawing is first traced in red urushi, then delicately dusted with fine gold powder using a soft petit-gris brush — the traditional gesture of maki-e.

Here, kintsugi does more than repair the object.
The fracture becomes part of the image itself: a line of gold from which something new can emerge.

Each piece has been restored in the traditional Japanese technique using urushi lacquer and 24k gold, transforming its fractures into a singular composition.

What happens when an object already restored with kintsugi breaks again?

The first repair does not need to be erased, concealed or imitated. The new fracture can be restored in silver — a technique known as gintsugi — so that each intervention remains visible and distinct.

Gold records one moment. Silver records another.

Together, the lines form a chronology of the object: not a return to an untouched state, but the continuation of its life.

In kintsugi, a repair never exists outside the history of the piece. It becomes one of its chapters.

Subterranean Clarity invites us to look beneath appearances, where hidden worlds patiently shape their own brilliance. Like a natural geode, the sculpture reveals an inner landscape that remained invisible until the moment of fracture.

The break is not a loss. It is the condition for revelation.

Through glass, ceramic and traditional 24k gold kintsugi, this work celebrates the invisible beauty that exists beneath every surface.

Inspired by Jules Verne’s timeless motto, Mobilis in immobile explores the invisible forces that shape us from within.

Its deep red ceramic evokes living matter—warm, vibrant, almost volcanic. Beneath its seemingly calm surface, a luminous glass geode reveals an inner world where energy, light and transformation coexist.

The fracture is not a weakness. It is the passage through which hidden beauty finally appears.

What if what we try to hide is precisely what deserves to be revealed?

My geode series is born from this idea.

At first glance, the surface appears intact, controlled, almost silent. Then the material opens. A cavity emerges. An inner landscape—mineral, unexpected, and until then invisible.

I am not trying to repair an object in order to return it to what it once was.

I am trying to reveal what it could become.

In each piece, the fracture is not an ending. It becomes a passage. An opening towards something deeper, rawer, and more precious.

The most extraordinary landscapes are often the ones hidden inside.

Some objects deserve more than being replaced.

This antique Japanese bowl carried the marks of time, and those marks became the starting point of a new story.

Using traditional kintsugi, each fragment was patiently reunited with natural Japanese urushi lacquer before being finished with pure 24-carat gold.

Kintsugi does not disguise the fracture.
It reveals it.

The crack becomes a memory rather than a flaw, transforming damage into something quietly precious.

Perhaps this is why this centuries-old philosophy still resonates today.

Not because it teaches us how to repair ceramics.

But because it reminds us that what has been broken can become even more meaningful.
